So Maybe I am just too enmeshed in the anal pron world, but it seems to me that nearly all female stars eventually do anal. (out of interest, what percentage of porn would you say focuses on anal vs. vaginal sex? Would you say anal is up to 50%?). You can still be somewhat popular in this industry and not do anal. Some girls such as Harmony, Alexis Malone and Sarah Blake don't seem have any intention to do anal and have been around for at least a couple of years.

I agree with bigdick. Personally, I just don't see any reason to watch non-anal b/g scenes anymore, unless it's something like AGSOI. I mean, there is SO MUCH porn out there now, why should I watch a vanilla vag-only scene if anal is the main thing I want to see?
I agree that these days, it's pretty much required for a girl to do anal eventually. Although I don't hate anal sex in porn, I wouldn't mind seeing more vaginal and oral sex in porn. I prefer vaginal and oral in real life too, so this isn't that surprising. A movie that advertised a focus on oral and vaginal sex would catch my eye, all other things being equal. I admit, I am probably in the minority in this opinion, but wanted give my $.02 worth of opinion to this forum, in case any pornographers are reading this thread.
These days, anal in two or three of five scenes seems to be the norm for a movie that does not advertise an anal theme.
I sometimes have to look hard to find non-anal scenes from some stars.

I honestly think there's to much anal porn being done. I'm probably in the minority here, but I think that a good blowjob and vag f'ing is in short supply. We need more Gonzo with NO ANAL (or less) please, thank you. I guess anal has never done it for me.

I have never bought a porn movie because it had anal in it. And now I see so much of it that I usually fast forward over it in a scene (just like I do with any lesbian scenes!).
I miss the good old days when anal was not such a given and you could pick up a movie and be pleasantly surprised while watching it to find an anal scene - always a maximum of only one per movie! The girl was generally the least attractive girl in the cast and she would well and truly telegraph the anal by repeatedly saying "Please fuck me in the ass!". After a good 10 minutes the anal would actually occur, during which she would repeatedly state "Yes, fuck me in the ass!" or "You're fucking me in the ass!" or "You fuck my ass good" - just in case any slack-jawed home viewer was confused as to exactly what was occuring before his eyes. This used to be great and was the equivalent of finding an easter egg on a dvd today. You also don't get dialogue like that in today's movies!
The only erotic anal I have ever seen was in "Outlaw Ladies" with John Leslie and Veronica Hart Both fully clothed, hot realistic dialogue by Veronica. Now it's like watching frogs hump.
IMO, the rise of anal-centric porn came with the rise of gonzo in the '90s. There were anal scenes and anal queens long before that, but it was much more of a specialty. If you HAD to see anal sex, there was the "Caught From Behind" series and the occasional anal themed feature. (With obvious titles like "Back Door to...") Ginger Lynn was one of the biggest stars of the mid-80s. She would occasionally do anal or DP's, but she certainly didn't have to do anal to get more work. The girl was amazing to watch.
It's a different world today. The prevalance of anal sex is still closely tied to the world of gonzo. If you only watch gonzo, then you're likely to think that EVERY porn title contains it. It's more common in features than it used to be, but in those cases it's considered a specialty, like G/G. One or two scenes per film.
Personally, it doesn't mean much to me. I see it all the time because it's hard to avoid in gonzo. (Not that I'm trying to.) It was hotter when it was a rarity. I wouldn't dismiss a girl because she won't do anal. Hey, Jesse Jane and Penny Flame are two of my favorites.
One porn star that comes to mind is Carmen Luvana. I see her name everywhere with quite a fan following, but she didn't do anal at least until her 3rd(??) year in porn.
To say that the time of star power is gone in porn, and that the act prevails I think is a little premature. An attractive performer, with the proper marketing, could possibly tease her audience and fans with small increments of advancing sexual acts, and still remain high in popularity.
