But one thing she has been very clear about, is that as a professional and a unique person, she knows that her natural look may not appeal to all tastes, and she certainly can't try and please everyone. I really don't think she gets too worked up by negative fan comments towards her for this very reason. She is who she is, and many, like us, are gonna love her, and others won't. But she also explained to us that where it really mattered to her, was when producers, directors, casting agents and others who have a direct effect on her career and ability to earn a living, started giving her a negative vibe. That's when she decided to do what any professional would, and take action to make herself more marketable and appealing to those who would employ her. I have no idea why the adult-industry is against girls with big butts eventhough I can't believe it's all companies, I mean Evasive Angles, West Coast Productions and Justin Slayer Productions have plenty of big butt series so that's not the problem, I think the problem would be feature/couples appeal companies, companies like Vivid, Wicked and Digital Playground for example. I mean look at their contract girls, they only sign girls who can Hula Hoop through a Cheerio. And of course there's Max Hardcore who also only wants to shoot ultra-skinny girls but for other reasons. I have to admit also that I would be less interested in my favorite big butt girls if they wouldn't have a big butt because it's the butt that makes them special, take that away and you have just a regular pornstar. The whole reason we're even having this discussion, AGAIN, is because of Sophie's opening post where she talks about how big her butt is, how much she hates it, and how she wants to get rid of it. A million of us could stand on our heads and tell her she's lovely until the cows come home, and it ain't gonna matter. We're never gonna get inside the head of a girl and convince her that what she perceives is an appearance negative or flaw, really isn't, if that's what she feels. Most of us have had a wife, girlfriend, sister, daughter, or mother, who obsessed over some aspect of their body or appearance, no matter what we told them, and billions of dollars are made feeding into that insecurity and obsession. And for most women in Western society, the butt is the number one figure "flaw" that they obsess over. Almost from the time they are little. And even those of us that love them and their big butts, often feed into their discomfort when we start making a big deal about it. When we first notice it as girls start to mature, or when we objectify it in women. I know that I may be part of the problem, but I like what I like, and can't really change that. All of this serves to bring a particular attention on a specific aspect of their being that makes them self-conscious and uncomfortable. Even though it maybe genetic, or natural, or beautiful, (to me anyway, smile), it still makes most girls uneasy to be always identified by their butt. Or big tits, or whatever significant feature they possess. I'm no psychologist, but I think I've been around enough women to understand this. Just judging from what we can see, I don't think that anyone would argue that Sophie is "unhealthy", or is anything other than a beautiful young woman. But, she still wants to change this particular physical aspect, in part because I don't think she wants to be defined by it. As I said before, Katja has always seemed to get it, and seems to have always been comfortable with her body. (At least during the time that we've been exposed to her.) The fact that she's become a huge, world class porn star does speak to the notion that there are other standards of beauty being recognized, but even when a big star like her can lose potential work, enough times to where she decides to make personal changes to rectify the situation, still shows that she is still the exception to the rule. Porn is still a zero sum game. What all of us on this thread like is still, in the overall scheme of things, a fetish or niche for porn, more than a signal of a cultural shift in beauty. I would suppose that by and large, agents, casting directors and movie producers want to make stuff that sells to the widest demographic, more than they want to make things that appeal to a certain segment of porn lovers. Companies are still reluctant to recognize it and are still pushing the look popularized in the fitness crazed eighties. Twiggy set the trend in the late sixties of the beanpole chic that had no womanly curves. Her body type replaced that of the Marylyn Monroes and Sophia Lorens. It fit in well with the coke crazed seventies that followed. The work-out 80's begat the heroin chic of the nineties and the return to popularity of the supermodel- Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evengelista etc. But in the 2000's after 30 years of this look we're finely seeing curvier women take the spotlight. I see the catalyst for this being J-Lo. Who can disagree that her butt replaced Pamela Andersons fake boobs as the most famous body part. Look at how popular Monica Bellucci is. How many threads do you see started about big butts as opposed to fake boobs? The ratio must be 5 to 1. I've been seeing less silicone in the movies I watch. It's not a big deal anymore to have big fake boobs. 10 years ago it was hard to find a natural pair in porn. Now there's an abundance. For almost 20 years Nina Hartly was the only true bubble butt girl in porn. Now they're popping out of the woodwork. How does anyone woman who thinks they need to lose weight to get work in porn ignore the popularity of Olivia O Lovely? Personally I don't find her face that appealling but I will watch her scenes just for that butt. Why was Tiffany Mynx able to make such a huge comeback at her age? I would go even further and say that the melding of Black American and Latin\Hispanic culture into popular culture over the past generation, has gone even further in making biggger butts more palatable in overall Western cultural standards. Black and Latin culture has NEVER had a problem with big butts on women, and have in fact CELEBRATED it throughout their history. So when Black and Latin culture started showing up in more and more mainstream areas, videos, movies and t.v., etc., that aspect came along with it. Ain't no skinny sisters shakin' it in rap and hip-hop videos. So while all this is good, and portends a more accepting view of all kinds of women, and different body types for women, that still doesn't always get into the heads of individual girls and women, who still are not happy with their body or look. J-Lo and Beyonce aside, the pressure or desire to be thin, or look thinner, remains strong in most women. The diet and exercise industry ain't goin' away, and I'd argue that more people are into it for vanity than for health. I'd also argue that if you asked most women if they'd prefer to have a big shapely booty, (the kind that we all salivate over), or not, most would still say no.
