First off - I am not one of the competitors - no affiliation with anyone. Having said that - I had bushdvd for about 2 months - the 8 dvd plan.
Now while initially their customer service was pretty good - 3 weeks into the subscription - I realized that the dvds were what of a long time - I am on east coast. No dvd's were missing but they just took some time.
Next I called the customer service and they gave me the usual carp. Ok, after a couple of weeks I called them again. Asked to speak with a manager - and this guy came on - who to begin with was extremly rude.
Then he blamed me for delays - AND ADMITTED TO throttling the account. His reason, I had 30 dvds over the course of 6 weeks.
His reason for throttling the account - I was indicating on the website that the dvd was shipped 3 days after it was actually shipped. I admit to doing so, but I did that because the dvd's were taking too long to reach me.
He eventually said that he will cancel my account and then hung up.
Now before the skeptics jump in, let me make this clear - I at no point was yelling or raising my voice. I think this manager (if he was a manager) was having a bad day. Believe me when I say this - this is the first such negative comment I have posted on the web anywhere.
I just wish that someone from higher up would have reviewed my account.
In any case, now I am with XRENT and I love it. Their selection is as good as Bushdvd.
I have also tried sugardvd - but the collection is just not the same.
I would like to hear any input into this matter.

FAF,
I’ll address a few of your comments below.
"Then he blamed me for delays - AND ADMITTED TO throttling the account. His reason, I had 30 dvds over the course of 6 weeks."
We have never throttled and we will never will. Adding the Rapid Return feature to our service simply dismisses that idea. Stating that you have rented 30 DVDs over the course of 6 weeks is a fact not a reason for anything.
"His reason for throttling the account – I was indicating on the website that the dvd was shipped 3 days after it was actually shipped. I admit to doing so, but I did that because the dvd's were taking too long to reach me."
I'm assuming you mean that you reported the DVDs as "never received" after 3 days? Is that correct?
Sincerely,
Jason

I assume that's a joke based on your username. Clever!

JASON - I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO GO OVER THE ACCOUNT.
No I did not report the dvd missing after 3 days. In fact, I reported that the dvd was shipped using the rapid return.
Before that experience, I would have recommended BUSHDVD in a heartbeat. The customer service was ALWAYS courteous.
However, when I called that day, I spoke with a girl, asking her how come it took so long for dvds to come. She put me on hold and then came her supervisor. He was rude from the getgo. Initially he dogged my questions and kept rambling ab out why I reported the dvd was sent using rapid return. Eventually, he said that the account was being throttled because of what I was doing.
As I said, before this event I was quite happy, and actually referred 3 of my friends, who actually did sign up and had a account with you guys.
As I said, this is the first time I have EVER posted a negative review. The person I spoke with was simply rude. Regardless of what kind of day he was having, there was absolutely no reason to speak that way.

So it sounds like maybe you marked your movies as shipped with the "rapid return" link 3 days before you actually dropped them in the mail?

Well - this is what I did - After the movies are shipped you are allowed to post them as returned withing 48 hrs to get the next movies. I marked them shipped 3 days after they sent me the dvd.
If this is wrong - the should have told me NICELY that what I was doing is wrong. But for the guy to just go off on me was absolutely uncalled for. This shows poor communication skills.
Furthermore, don't throttle the account. I was paying 45 (i don't remember exact amout) for 8 dvds. They should have never told me that I have received too many dvds and that is the reason for throttling the account.
As I said - I am more than willing to talk to someone at bushdvd to find out what I did was wrong. I would also like to know what was the reason for the rudeness.

I agree - but things happen. I figure they are an online business - customers should be able to resolve most issues via email. No need for a call.
You must have asked him to cancel your account at some point?

FAF,

"If this is wrong..."
I'm fairly certain you know this is wrong. Rapid Return is an honor program. If we find that you are abusing the system to get more movies, then this privilege will be disabled from your account or your account will be closed. We have tracking information that shows when your DVDs should be delivered.
"Furthermore, don't throttle the account. I was paying 45 (i don't remember exact amout) for 8 dvds. They should have never told me that I have received too many dvds and that is the reason for throttling the account. "
Stopping someone from abusing the system isn't throttling. If we allowed customers to Rapid Return DVDs as soon as they became available for RR then the plan would no longer be a 4 plan per se. It would be an 8 plan and that is not what you are paying for.
Sincerely,
Jason

It appears they did that because you were abusing their system. Which is only fair way to handle it so that customers that don't abuse their system don't lose it.

I have been with BUSH DVD for a very long time and would recommend them with no hesitation. The DVD's always arrive within 2 to 4 days, no complaints there and with there RAPID RETURN feature new movies are mailed quickly.
I have had a few DVD's that were unplayable or missing (VERY RARE) and BUSH has responded quickly and to my complete satisfaction to these problems.

yeah but as I said..to cancel the account without asking me is wrong.
ONCE AGAIN - there is absolutely NO need for the rudeness. I wasn't and thus they should not be either.
I will maintain my impression of this company.
Again - I would strongly recommend people to try xrent prior to going to BUSHDVD. There are a million posts regarding their excellent customer service and I have nothing bad to say about them. ALWAYS polite.

Sounds like a bad breakup. Why still so bitter? You get bummed when you get dumped for cheating on your girlfriends too?

well...I am bitter because they make all these claims - but you see - even in this post they never addressed their behavior. Furthermore, believe me when i say this, I have never had anyone talked to me this way.
Mind you, if they were really concerned about this, they would have offered to contact me and find out who was the person that dealt with me. But they did nothing of that sort.
But I rest my case and I will not pursue this further.
