Well, i've watched a few pornos on this bad boy and it works great. usually for porn i use my other comp because the dell is in the family room where there is a lot of people hanging around!!! lol, im going to move it someday

mostly its for games, music, and movies. Especially DOOM III when it comes out. im very very very excited about that game

Is there a reason you spent 800bucks on 4GB or Ram? what do you need four gigs for?

ive spent years upgrading computers and in the end it costs more $$ than just buying the good stuff right away. i figure this setup will be good for almost everything for at least 5 yrs. and i actually do need a lot of RAM, just not 4GBs:) i do a lot of vid and photo stuff, games, programming, all those sorts of goodies

unless you're doing hardcore photoshop stuff w/giant paging sizes, sell the memory and consider putting it towards getting something sooner than 5 years from now, since that 800 should buy you a machine that will totally smoke the current one in a year. 64-bit windows makes it obselete after that.

i do graphic design for a living, so i need this much ram. and about it beating the system in a year, sure, but the majority of people wont have that system. this will be functional at a high level for at least 5yrs. theres ALWAYS something better in a year...but serisoly, the user base for that product is actually very low

I don't think your computer would last you 5 years specially with the computer technology fast pacing. They're coming out with faster processor every month and in the lapse of 5 years new and better memory would come to the light and you'd certainly be tempted to purchase the new memory :)

If he does graphic design, you'd think he'd be better served with a dual opteron or g5 setup, both can be put together at similar cost and should save a dozen hours a week vs. a prescott.

i'm not dumping on the setup, i'm not sure it's the best choice for photoshop and i'm not sure what advantages it has over the 3.4c to justify heat issues and expensive ddr2 ram.

in the windows world, 2005 is 64-bit, anything 32-bit will be architecturally obselete and there's a huge speed difference between the two. if it's being used for work, time is being wasted.
