Hi all!

I thought I would share my latest shopping experience with the above 2 e-tailers. I have purchased from both of them before with excellent results. Since both were offering various promotions, I decided to place an order with each of them. I hadn't ordered from either of them recently.

Both orders were placed on Sunday, August 12th.

Here are the results one week later on August 19:

Fivestar:

Ordered 6 dvds on Sunday August 12th.
All showed as in stock at the time order was placed.
All 6 were shipped on Monday, August 13th.
Credit Card correctly charged on Monday, August 13th.
Received dvds on Wednesday, August 15th.

Notes: Fivestar is located in Arizona, I live in Los Angeles, CA. (2 days for priorty mail is pretty good! Good work USPS!) Excellent service from Fivestar!

DVDAdvantage:

Ordered 5 dvds on Sunday, August 12th.
All showed as in stock at the time order was placed.
Credit card was charged for all 5 dvd on Monday, August 13th
4 of the 5 dvds were shipped on Friday, August 17th.
Received dvds on Saturday, August 18th.

Notes: DVDAdvantage is located in Los Angeles, CA, I also live in Los Angeles, CA. (1 day for local delivery is to be expected.) The DVDAvantage packing slip has a little label that says "We are out of stock of 1 or more DVD's from your order. Your credit card has been credited for any dvd's not shipped."

Well, despite another thread here in which "MCR" says that DVDAdvantage is issuing credits on a daily basis, a quick call to my credit card company shows no credits have been posted to my account yet.

I should have known, like another shopper, the dvd that I really wanted to see is the one that they were out of stock of! I should have taken more notice to all the comments other shoppers had made regarding DVDAvantage's inventory control system.

Can you guess which one of the above e-tailers I will no longer be doing business with?

I too want to give Five Star some good props, I have ordered from them for about the past year and have yet to have a bad experience with them. I live in SC for most of this time but all the orders I placed with them arrived with a week of me placing them which is pretty close to normal mail service from one coast to another which is about 4 days so way to go Five Star.

Hi all!

Thought I would update my DVDAdvantage shopping experience:

I have received a credit on my credit card for the 1 dvd that was out of stock at DVDAdvantage. To my surprise, even though my order total dropped to a lower discount coupon level since 1 item was out of stock, they still honored the higher discount level for the balance of my order that was in stock. (Their recent promotions are discounts based on $ order size. The more $ you buy, the higher the discount, 8%, 10%, etc.) This is the promotion that I used.

With their newly revamped web site (much better than their old one), I hope DVDAdvantage can fix their order fulfillment process; inventory control, billing, shipping, etc. It seems that they are trying very hard to improve the shopping experience for their customers. Hopefully, their new upcoming inventory system will remedy these problems. I'd be willing to give them another try.
