I would go further though. You say that heterosexuality and homophobia are not identical, I would say they are mutually exclusive. No person who felt secure about their own heterosexuality would be "repulsed" by having gay admirers; only those who were uncomfortable or uncertain about their own sexuality (perhaps because of their own repressed homosexual or other non-hetero desires, perhaps just because of a general disgust with sex) would react that way. No person comfortable in their own heterosexuality could be a homophobe.
