We'll be launching a new version of the "www" portion of ADT soon, likely early next week. We're still tidying up a few things and have a couple of pages to create still. There is a beta test version @ new.adultdvdtalk.com up and running if you're curious. The beta site is running from the live database.
Assuming all goes well with the new layout the next step will be to get the forum transitioned to the new framework so it functions better on mobile devices.
Please check it out and let us know if you see any problems.
Yes, that's true. The forum is not changing for now.
The forum has been slowly improved over the course of the past 10 years. 6 or maybe 7 years ago the forum transitioned to a CSS framework that was mobile-friendly-ish/ for that time period. The behind-the-scenes structure of the forum is very different than the www part of the site. The www part of the site has remained roughly the same for 12 to 15 years. That's why it's been reworked before the forum. The forum is next and will happen in 2 phases but for the next few months the forum will remain mostly unchanged, at least from a user's perspective. (There's a lot that has to happen on the server end of things first.) It will get done. The new www portion of the site represents about 4 months of 60 to 80 hour work weeks for me this winter.
When I go to the home page and click on a new release DVD, like this one for instance: https://new.adultdvdtalk.com/movie/anal-casting-4-hard-x, in the top right it shows the names of performers in the cast, but as you can see here there are two problems:
1. It shows two names twice, but I think that's because the other two girls don't have profile pics 2. Related to #1, it shows the names of the girls who have profile pics on their pages, but it doesn't show the pics themselves.
The double names and the broken studio image could have been related to a temporary 404 error on those files not loading. I have restarted the website a dozen times in the past hour as I set up the load balancing for the new site. edited to add... one of the names in the double name is the image alt tag for the performer headshot that didn't load.
Is the image loading problem fixed now? I had a host-header screwed up at the CDN provider. It seemed to only be visible in Firefox which is interesting. Firefox sends the full URL as a referring page, Chrome only sends the hostname.

Great job. I can well imagine how long it took to get this done...
The only thing that "annoys" me in the forum is that it takes 2 or 3 steps to get back to the (first) forum page after you posted in a thread.... but maybe it´s just me who hasn´t found the trick over the years
I think you've misunderstood me and my line of thinking. I merely stated that only the new home page was accessible - the forum links had been unchanged though you had clarified since my post that the forum isn't changing for now.
Maybe I don't speak English well enough to understand. You're saying only one page of the new site is available> (..only the new home page was accessible.) That's the part I find confusing. A "home page" is one page. There are many pages available and linked from the home page. So I guess I just don't understand. There's a LOT more to ADT than just the forum.

Overall an improvement. Increased the babes-per-inch value which is an improvement. The "featured releases" line looks like good advertising real estate.
That "Adult DVD Talk is a 56,626 member community of [...]" paragraph full of numbers and commas... looks like noise/mentally adblocked.
I'm not sure the "Join the Community" button pops out much (nor translates that well), the word "Forum" is hidden behind exploratory clicks unless you scroll down.
I'm liking the new bookmark / homepage tile. Also the menu on mobile view.
Just wanted to say thank you to the people who run this place. It's one of my favorite online forums. High quality discussion, people who are real and speak their mind. Plus porn. A winning combo for sure.

Thanks, Zinger! If we did any advertising for the site I'd use this quote :)
Everyone, appreciate all the feedback! We know there's more to do, always more to do, but at least we've got our foot through the door of the modern era. 99% of the kudos go to Drew.
ADT is almost the only porn forum I join nowadays.
Comfortable in use, reasonable amount of ads, great discussions (beside porn too) to follow and join and easy access to movies and sites.....and further improvements ahead.
i hope so much that the changes will not have me crying everytime i come here. ADT is my number one forum and i was so glad it stayed unchanged for all those years.
The planned changes are all essentially to get the forum to work better on a phone. There's a lot we can do to make it better. We're not looking to add a lot of new features initially, just repackage what's here so it works on mobile devices. The forum is entirely too difficult to use on a small screen.
We likely would get more porn star participation if the forum was more mobile-friendly. That and if people would stop insulting them constantly ;)
Maybe I'm missing something but before on the home page the New Reviews were on the far right and that was the first place I looked. Many times I would open the review and read it, see a girls name I did not recognize, click her name and then I could read about her from the "talk" link. Is that still easily accessible from the home page? I see all the new release DVD's right in front but not all the other stuff. Thanks for your help in advance.
Scroll down a bit. There's a section with a heading of MOVIE REVIEWS. Three tabs in that section. The active/default is New Reviews. The 10 most recent reviews are listed there with cast lists, box covers and a lot more info than we were able to provide in the old site layout.
The new hamburger menu does nothing but increase the number of clicks needed to navigate to certain pages. I now need to click three times to navigate to the forums while the old design just needed one. It just creates more points of frustration. Hamburger menus should only be used on mobile apps and websites.
That's good feedback and I agree to a certain extent. We'll add a prominent link to the forum near the top of the home page outside of the navigation. I'll tinker with ways to possibly do a horizontal nav bar above a certain breakpoint too.
Hi Drew, I just noticed this thread. There are a few things that I hope you can fix, one of which I sent a PM to Steph a few weeks ago but never got a reply. I thought she's the one that does the site support.
At least that's what I remember. I only started posting here recently after many years of not posting. The first one I noticed is:
1. There's a marker that is left automatically after you edit a post. The problem is, it leaves it even if you've edited your post immediately after posting. Every other forum I'm in, the minimum time before it leaves an "edited" marker is 5 mins after your initial post. Most of them are much longer than that.
What happens is that sometimes you don't notice a typo until after you post. It's especially easier to miss a typo on ADT because of problem 2.
2. When using the preview feature, many times I cannot see all of the post that was quoted along with my comment. It cuts off at least 50% of the post.
3. There's no way to delete a post. I've never run across this in any other forum. I had to ask mods to delete some consecutive posts (because I made some editing errors) and I saw no way to do it. All I could do is delete the text, and leave a series of blank posts with the "edited" marker showing.
