The Lebanese Forces are a Christian militia, that would probably be considered a terrorist group if they weren't allied with Israel. They were involved in the Sabra and Shatila Massacre that got a lot of media attention in the west because of the number of people killed (probably in the thousands) and Israel's involvement. But they have also been implicated in a lot of other bloody events, including an earlier massacre of a rival Christian group. While wearing the mark of a violent Christian group on her flesh, she takes the stage name "Khalifa"– which is derived from the word "Caliph" (meaning the successors to the Prophet). Since the Caliphate was overthrown, the name is no longer used except by members of the Royal family of Bahrain– which recently suppressed its own Arab Spring uprisings with the help of the Saudi Army (and its US supplied weaponry). Moreover, she has appeared in videos wearing Muslim headwear, and seems to be using people's ignorance of the Middle East to market herself as a Muslim porn star. I am a big fan of porn. But I am no fan of any organization that involves itself in mass murder– especially if the murder is motivated by ethnic prejudice. I understand that Mia may not care about politics, and the tattoo may be a symbol of family and ethnic pride. But if someone were an active supporter of the KKK and making IR videos, I would be pretty offended. But let's be real (even in the light of the recent bombing in Colorado Springs), the KKK hasn't massacred thousands of people during my lifetime. [Link] |

I was trying to point out that the story that gets repeated in the media about "Middle Eastern Extremists" isn't nearly as simple as it seems.Remember that the US is killing large numbers of people in the Middle East, and that this is often justified by reference to "Muslim extremists". I was trying to point out that her critics may not be extremists. Some years ago, Stoya joked about rumors that she had shaved a swastika into her bush. Of course, no one for a second thought that Stoya might have been a Nazi sympathizer. Still, if she had a swastika tattoo and performed under the name of "MIss Israel", some fans would have been offended. (Especially if it was unclear whether she was being ironic or really sympathized with the Nazis. In Mia's case, I don't think she's being ironic.) Do I care if you jerk off the Mia? No. Do I care if those who she offends are labeled "extremists" by people who are largely ignorant of the Middle East– even as their government wages war on Muslim populations under the guise of "fighting extremism"?
