So far, Harri Patel's suggestion has been the only one worth following up on (and Savoy's, of course). You should research the credibility of the suggestions offered up. I would personally ignore almost all responses in this thread unless they're from someone affiliated with the industry. Even then, I'd be very wary.
If I were to become (hypothetically, but not out of reach of possibility) the next "big name" in the adult industry, don't you think I deserve just as much a chance as any? Hasn't this day in age promoted and sought after women who have both the looks and the brains? Am I not allowed to be myself, instead of being funneled (by society's standards) into a "more respectable" job? The way I see it, I could be just what the doctor ordered for the business: a good mix of personality, charisma, depth, and beauty. I'm not trying to blow my own horn, here. I just felt that I had a valid argument. My parents sent me to an incredible school; from which I should've ideally been interested in an "office" job. But if I had the opportunity to do something that seems to beckon my interests, I wouldn't want anyone's judgments to tie me down :)

Not quite. I haven't exactly lived the cookie-cutter life. Which is why I'm torn at the decision. An agency contacted me today about working and shooting and I know that this decision will change my life. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'd really LOVE to work and do the job because there's always been something intriguing and taboo about it which has caught my eye. But I don't know how I'd tell my family or friends.

Brian, Joe and Jim at Giirlz Inc, World Modeling and Blue Max (one submission will get you seen by all three) seem to be the easiest to work with from what I have heard and seen, as long as you don't mind starting in Florida (California and NYC come later).

I richly concur with ma meeshka that most of this thread is worth ignoring. If you're seriously considering this career choice: 1.) Contact LA Direct Models and discuss your intentions with Robert or Derek. 2.) If adult stars ever feature dance in your area, go to a show. When you have an opportunity to speak to the feature entertainer, discuss with candor your concerns (many of the clients I've had have been open to such conversations; one actually entered the business this way herself). Good luck in whatever you eventually choose to do, in or out of adult entertainment. I wish you good fortune. PS - About the comment I quoted at the top of this post: If a legitimate company DID contact you via your MySpace, you wouldn't be jumping into action without taking a few steps, including getting a full health screening from AIM or equally qualified center. You can submit your pics and info using many legitimate agents' websites. I know you can for Giirlz Inc/Adult Modeling Alliance (I read their blog quite often), I have also seen that feature on many of the other agencies sites. I know that Mark Speigler is also well regarded, contact info is on their website (I don't remember the address, google it and it will be there).

I think that Giirlz Inc. is the only agent in Florida involved in adult entertainment -- since you say you are going there anyway I would give Brian or Julia a call or submit pics on their website. They are in alliance with Jim South and World Modeling in California -- he has the oldest agency in the business and is also well regarded and would handle your CA bookings if you go that route (as I said above, Mark Spiegler of the like named agency is also well regarded, but he is CA only and seems to specialize in experienced talent). FYI, most porn made in Florida is used on corporate websites, so your scenes can show up online within weeks of filming, that may help you when you go for the bigger paycheck with the bigger CA companies (Vivid, Wicked, etc.). You can find my full advice posts using the search function, but I ask one thing -- are you truly ready for the whole world to know that you are doing porn? I guarantee that one or two people that you would rather not know, they always find out first. Also, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE watch the Porn 101 and 102 videos at www.aim-med.org! If you have dial-up, call (phone number is on the website) and they will gladly send you DVD copies (if you test there once you go to CA, Sharon Mitchell will likely talk to you, she is a former porn star and is their director). Also, when you film for Mike South, tell him I said hello! I am an active poster on a chat board that him and another guy started up recently. Mike also posts here and I was hoping that he would see this thread and respond. If you were looking to only do a scene or two (and could pay your own airfare/hotel), I would advise to contact him -- but since you want to make a career out of this, you really need an agent. I fly out to Florida on a red eye on March 3rd and land there the early morning of the 4th. After I get tested, I think the next thing on my agenda are my portfolio shots. If they turn out well, I'll consider posting them on here. And as for the wild stuff, I'm not experienced with the more intense things (anal, dp, atm, etc.) but I will likely get into that as my experience progresses. Anyone care to guess what the percentage of female ex-adult film stars are happy/proud of their experiences? I really have no idea if it is 90% or 10%. I don't like the idea of someone who isn't certain this is what they want to do. I've become much more mature and indeed conservative as I've gotten older, and I just don't like the thought of someone who was not "meant" for the industry... joining, and then regretting it the rest of their lives. Jim South and his alliance (Brian and Joe) have the best reputation in the business. Derek is well liked as well and seems to do a good job as well. I would pick Jim over Derek mainly because he can provide representation and lodging in Florida and NYC as well as California (that gets you more work). I think Derek is just a one city man.
I've also just been contacted by Lisa Ann Talent Management. They've requested that I fill in the "Model Profile" and "Model Release" forms. I don't know how to go about this. Can anyone help? I'm afraid that if I sign these forms I won't see any of the money that I could possibly be making from my pictures (I haven't shot any videos just yet). What are the proper steps at this stage? I will confess to having a pretty narrow world-view, shaped by working middle-class parents, the Catholic Church (abandoned long ago, but a part of my youth), and two degrees from a fairly well regarded pubic university. But to someone coming from such a background, doing porn is not only something that would be difficult to live down if you ever decide to rejoin, for lack of a better term, "polite society," it's a very big, very public "fuck you" to the vast majority of the people you have associated with and valued over the course of a young life -- parents, relatives, teachers, friends, teammates, etc. Your background and those you have associated with may not fit that perception, and I'm not condemning an choices you've made. I'm sure I won't mind pleasing myself to the image of your semen-saturated face as it flashes before me on my screen. I've often wondered, though, why so many really attractive (and some pretty attractive) women choose to make permanent, commercially available records of their sexual activities with a bunch of mopes, when escorting is an option. (That's the cue for those who are routinely horrified that someone who'll fuck strangers on camera for money would fuck strangers behind closed doors to jump in and start shouting, "Whore!") These days, all you need to succeed as an independent is a couple of decent photos, a cellphone, and a computer. It's very easy to mitigate the physical, financial, health, and legal risks associated with escorting. And, most important of all, it provides an element of deniability that porn doesn't allow. I continue to be amazed at how many escorts are MIWLFs (mothers I wouldn't like to fuck), while so many HILFs (hotties I'd like to fuck) wind up in porn.
