I think the "IT"ness (hah) of a girl can be measured by her market value. Can she make people buy a DVD en masse just for her scene?
Examples for "it" girls in the recent past were Taylor Rain, Teagan and Keri Sable in the gonzo scene, there is no denying that they were very popular. Currently, i think the definite "it" girl position is up for grabs.
Something that needs to be noted is that the american fans choose consistently american girls as their favourite even if the majority of the porn girls is european. Maybe an unconscious choice. The only euro girl i can think that was a big favourite in the american market was Silvia Saint.
Taryn, no reason to wonder what "it" is, because you darling are the "it girl" right now. Just look in the mirror and you will see what "it" is. You have a lot of titles coming out this month and after they are released more and more people will realize you are the "it girl" now. Just look at your thread. You have more then Keri Sable had before contract, and well you have a ways to beat Tegan. But you are defiantly the "it girl" now.
While the stream of truly stunning european girls, has remained consistent, (I infact remain hopelessly enamored with Lucy Love), a key part of possessing "it" girl qualities can be revealed through their spoken persona.
Unfortunately, most european girls that speak english, say very little, or otherwise speak all too softly. This ofcourse is not necessarily a bad thing, but IMO, it forces them to rely soley on their "looks" in leaving an impression, or connecting with the audience.
I also bemoan the unavoidable boob jobs to some of my fave all natural girls(Eva Angelina, Teagan, etc). However, Katie Morgan's new rack was suprisingly appealing to me. Maybe I'm turning over a new leaf?
Without going crazy about the definition of "it", or the longevity/newness required to qualify for "it" status, I will just say this: the girl I've been seeing lately that rocks my world is Rita Faltoyano. That's me speaking as an individual, not as the owner of Video Team. Sadly, we haven't shot her yet, but I hope to get to her soon.
Melissa Lauren definitely has a great quality as well. Lauren Phoenix was certainly it when she first started. I couldn't tell from looking at stills, but when I saw the first footage she shot for us, I was blown away.
I think part of the "it" quality is beauty, and part of it is intensity... an undeniable love of sex that can't be faked.
Nothing says I love you so much as a tongue in the ass. 2884 Posts 1/03

With all due respect Christian, I don't think "it" is any of those things, or things that can be quantified. It's a response thing from the fans. Something about a girl that captures the fancy of the masses and dictates that they can't see her enough or talk about her too much. Dig up the Teagan thread. To me, Teagan was far more cute than beautiful and there are dozens of more intense performers. Her innocent look was key for her and people delighted in her level of corruption. Keri Sable has a look that can be deconstructed negatively but comes across as spectacular just the same. I don't believe there's an "it" girl on the scene at the moment even though Taryn Thomas' most ardent supporters have pushed for that distinction for her. These women don't get appointed or announced. They just appear.
