Unfortunately most performers seem to think that their fans attention is exclusive to them. Most of the time fans have several favourite girls and DVDs are a good way of getting combinations of scenes starring your favourite girl. I would lament a situation where you could only see one girl perform on one girl's website exclusively. If a fan were forced to sign up for every pornstars website that he liked it would prove prohibatively expesnive. I understand why pornstars want to perform exclusively for their own pornsite. Its safer for them, they only have to perform with the people they like and perform the positions and actions they like. It's a nice convinient steady income as well. Also you often find that pornstars have entered into committed relationships when they give up doing scenes for DVD and go to website only scenes. But if we look at pornstars as performance artists I think exclusivity via performing on only one website or a girl performing under contract stiffles their performances over time. I much prefer pornstars like Bobbi Starr and Dana DeArmond who seek to garner fans through all avenues available to them. Nothing says romance like anal sex.
I think if a pornstar is smart and handles it correctly all that stuff feeds off each other to make them more money and successful. The DVDs make her more known so guys will want to check out their websites and see them dance on the road. When they dance they sell the DVDs to customers. If you like the DVDs and want to see them doing stuff they wouldn't/couldn't do on the DVDs you check out the website. If you're on the site they can announce the new DVDs they have coming out or when they'll be dancing. Multiple streams of exposure and income. But...I do know where you're coming from because I never watch porn on my computer so it's all about DVDs for me.
