Maybe I been watching porn too long now but new stuff coming out does nearly nothing for me these days, its so clean, boring and formulaic. In fact I find myself looking at older titles these days and seeking out flicks I not seen, not ancient stuff but around at least 3 years old. It just seems to me that porn was better shot and more hard edged or something. Don’t get me wrong, some stuff put out by the top directors is still good. I’m just saying I been watching stuff a few years old and it hits the mark much more than these newer releases, there is a definite contrast, I wonder if anyone else feels like this? Its like I’ll check out a new flick like big wet asses 16 and just get so bored and not bother, same with a few others. Whats going on with euro porn as well? Some of that old sineplex stuff is still unmatched, in my opinion Jay Sin still hasn’t topped his older work, some of those winkers scenes are unbelievable, I don’t mind GG stuff but its nearly all u get now, are girls refusing to have sex or something? Wheres the old tease as well? Ass worship scenes seem like a thing of the past now, to really enjoy the girl before the sex is a rarity, its just about getting in there for loads of angles with no real substance. Porn fans continually ask that things move in a more interesting direction with new ideas which I don’t always think is a good idea, an amazing girl, great tease followed by great well shot sex and I’m happy. It seems like things have gone backwards if anything. Anyway this is turning into a very negative rant, I realise things in the industry have been effected over the last few years but there does seem to be a lack of something, its like some new directors with real passion for the game are needed. If I’m missing something I’ll gladly be pointed in the right direction, I don’t claim to be a porn expert, I just think its really fucking boring at the moment
Gonzo and the handheld camera stuff makes a lot of the stuff of the last five years boring. I like a decent angle to actually watch her body and enjoy its shape. No such thing with the cheap reality tv style. I find myself going back to the euro Private movies of 1997-2003. You can't really miss with that, great camerawork, great lighting, pretty girls, anal in every scene++. There is still some good euro porn being made, but I find that much of the recen stuff is either too "arty" and "alternative", or it is just boring gonzo. With regards to American porn, I prefer the same time period since my impression is that recent stuff is lower budget. It's really too bad, with all the good looking girls out there and 97% of their scenes are shot by people who have no clue about filmmaking. While the amount of beautiful girls is staggering, American porn has lost some of the most reliable talent, notably Peter North and Julian. Most new guys are either creepy, too rough, don't appear to have any chemistry with the girl, have really weak cumshots, or are completely unpredictable.
My familiarity with DVD porn mainly comes from my videobox subscription, but there definitely seems to be a trend away from nasty, raunchy shit, like DPs, gangbangs, blowbangs, massive facials and cum swallowing, etc. Platinum X has a series called "internal discharge," which used to feature filthy anal creampies, but the most recent installment didn't have any anal. I was flabbergasted. Red Light District used to have a series called "cum fart cocktails," but now all their movies seem to be shot in the same room with the same red couch, and are mostly fluff. Also, a few years ago, it was not uncommon for an 18 year old to be doing DPs. Now, of course, that is not the case. It seems like Evil Angel is the only studio now consistently producing hardcore, raunchy porn. Also, a few years ago, we had Meathles and Max Hardcore (yeah, I'm a fan, if you're going to judge me for that then go fuck yourself). Now there's only facialabuse (yes, I'm a fan of that as well). It seems like the stuff that is most popular now is stuff like Naughty America, Reality Kings, etc. I've never subscribed to NA, but based on their preview page it looks like the most boring porn ever. Regarding new vs. old stuff. The passage of time tends to distill things. The garbage gets forgotten, the good stuff doesn't. Someone today looking at 'the cassics' might reasonably conclude that movies were a lot better in the old days than they were. Me and my raincoat sat in many a dark theater and peep show booth when those classics were new and endured an awful load of unbelievable crap between seeing the good ones. Won't be here to find out, thank God, but I'll wager that thirty or forty years hence, the debate will continue, and many will yearn for the early years of the 21st century when they made 'the really good stuff.'

I have no idea what you're talking about. Elegant Angel titles, for instance, look head and shoulders above the gonzo porn produced years ago. There's also loads of tease in their videos, not to mention a lot of Evil Angel and JJ videos. Maybe you're watching the wrong porn friend.

Porn from the golden age had an erotic and sensual tinge completely missing from modern porno. Where is this generation's Aunt Peg? Seka? Little Oral Annie? Desiree Cousteau? Kay Parker? Christy Canyon? Lisa De Leeuw? It doesn't seem like porn produces many of these sultry stars anymore.
Fritz the Night Owl!!!! I agree with you. Like everything else, porn is just so fragmented now. Plenty of good, new talent and scenes to find, but they seem to be all niche production companies---with expensive monthly subscriptions to their sites. However, many of the sultry stars from before, still have great, ongoing careers. A great thing about today is the cougar concept.
I try not to think like "They don't make 'em like they used to," but they don't make them like they used to. There is a key thing missing in most feature porn these days, and that is the format of making the sex a seamless part of the narrative, which involves taking a risk with the sexual side of things. I wish people would take more risks in current porn. That said, there's nothing in the past like Elegant Angel, so I guess I should be happy.

That's what seems to be pretty hard to find in straight porn today. For lesbian porn there's Viv Thomas, Sweetheart (and sometimes GFF) who can get it right, but straight porn that looks explicit in an erotic yet not filthy way is something I haven't seen in quite a while. Most of what I find is rushing through positions, fake moaning and then the facial. I wish they'd do a better job at faking at least by considering most people don't moan right away but breathe heavy first ;) It must be difficult to get two complete strangers to do something on camera they actually enjoy and take their time with it, I guess.
