Anyone notice while viewing some web sites, that there are double underline links on seemingly various random keywords(In-text ads)and when moused over, generate a pop up ad? I don't know if I have picked up some malware, or if this is a new way to irritate rs. Wondering how to get rid of this. Any direction appreciated.

I've noticed it. Though not lately and I think I might know why.
I suggest installing a plugin called No Script for Firefox.
Link to no script page.

Thanks Conq, I'll give it a try. I use Firefox as well, have for a looong time and have enjoyed years of trouble free browsing. Now is the first hiccup in that nice run.

I don't think it's that new. I've been seeing them for a while. They are irritating but I suppose they could be useful if you're the curious type.

They might be middleman injected attacks (ads in this case). Do they ever appear on HTTPS pages? Maybe have others compare what they see on that page to see if what they get is the same as you.

Some sites use this as a form of advertising. A car parts related forum that I frequent uses these kinds of ads and they are very annoying.

What's more annoying is that most of the ads are not even germane to what the article is about. For instance , if you're reading about storm windows, say, you get an ad for Microsoft Windows. It's totally nutty.

Oddly enough, as easily annoyed as I am, this one doesn't bother me as much as some other things. Although it all kind of piles up and creates one big monster that makes you just wanna throw your computer.

I was expecting this thread to be about that Taylor Van Bailey person . . .
