| musicgu7 Member 40 Posts 5/08 | Hello all! Well, what can i say to start..? been watching for so long... thinking of giving it a try myself I think best describes it! Contacted a few agencies and everything is going according to plan but even after a lot of google searching have not found some answers that i think only people who have already gone through what i am going to go through can answer: 1. Casting: From what i get from most of the agencies, i can either book a lady for a shoot (which BTW didnt know i had to do weeks in advance) or i can book for a casting, this is where my question comes up. If I book for a casting first, is there any sex involved (eg: BJ or a "quick dip"? )? or does that mean I only get to talk to the girl? Can you describe a typical casting so i wont look like a complete newbie/idiot please? 2. Health Will be working with czech agencies... they tell me each of the girsl have to give in a health report esp as this is bareback stuff, can this be trusted or STD here i come? 3. Time Whats the "done thing"? pay per scene? pay per hour? pay per cum shot? 4. Got the site ready...or as can be before having real content, next need to know which credit card processor to take... any recommendations? 5. I know this is going to be a question that hits some raw nerves but have to ask it... piracy: people stealing content and siterips.. for a guy like me starting out... if someone does that, it can be the end... how do you cope with it, best things to do? Any other general advise or advise about shooting in the Czech would be appreciated. Thanks! R [Link] |

| RobertRath Member 49 Posts 1/08 | 2 - I almost always shoot protected for full penetration. Condoms these days can be almost invisible, so get truck load and away you go. But I'd check the integrity of any certificates and the company providing them before hand. Unless you're a fan of chlamydia . 3 - I almost always pay per scene. Even if girls want an hourly rate I quote a per scene price. Per hour means you'll be rushing to get everything squeezed in so you don't have to pay more than you'd like, which leads to mistakes. 4 - Epoch or CCBill. 5- Its impossible to stop piracy, if Hollywood can't do it then Im damn sure pornoland can't. But the pirates usually target bigger companies and brands. Little fish probably aren't on pirates radars The best way to do it is to give it a go. But be smart with money, don't flash it about. Maybe just shoot one scene with a local model, something small like some solo stuff, or if you have to shoot b/g just shoot a blowjob or a handjob. Rushing into shooting a full on B/G scene is a good way to piss (Or cum) money away. Don't try and copy other movies, if you're shooting POV don't try and be Manuel because it'll just look ropey. Be original, but most of all enjoy it. If you can't enjoy looking at naked chics, you're in the wrong game. I could be wrong. You might be a natural. Who knows Just my opinion though, I'm not exactly a pro |
| musicgu7 Member 40 Posts 5/08 | Thanks for replying guys! Sorry for my late reply, i thought i would get an email if someone answered the post... and just came back here to see if it had gotten deleted for some reason since i didnt get any email. "I think it's dumb to start off on your own like that. You're just going to waste a bunch of money while you learn the ropes of the business. You would be way better off getting a job shooting for one of the major companies over there first, and then striking out on your own in a year or two." Its true i am a noob in this, but i have a background of image editing and have worked with websites that do all sorts of movies, adult included, so am sure that will help a bit. I have also designed adult sites and am a programmer. dont have a lot of experience behind the camera though so cant really apply to work with a company, as no major company i think would hire me... plus, another way of looking at it is... i do get laid and get to see some really nice babes nude, not such a bad situatation :)) Am in it for the money... but am not yet "jaded" as i have read from other forums so still enjoy looking at naked pics and sex. RobertRath, thanks for replying... i feel much better now that i haev a bit more info that you provided. Can you kindly just expand a bit more on this: A casting is whatever you want it to be the deal is i have to pay 25% for the casting or 100% for the "proper scene"... what i want to know is, in the 25% payment can i ask the girl to perform a bj on camera or something? what does a general casting like? is it just interview? naked shots? what? Thanks again! R |
| RobertRath Member 49 Posts 1/08 | Where did this 25% come from? Basically if you want oral from a casting you're going to have to pay the going rate, so you might aswell just shoot a scene without casting or you'll be paying for the same thing twice when you need only pay once, if that makes sense. There are girls out there who are naive enough to come to castings for free and will do whatever to get the role, but this is a good way to make a really bad name for yourself. My suggestion would be either organise a casting and just have her do some solo masturbation or even just some nude shots (Paid of course, but its a lot cheaper than having her suck your cock) or just go ahead anyway with the scene. If its an experienced girl then you can just look her up online and see how she performs without the need to cast. |
| musicgu7 Member 40 Posts 5/08 | Thanks again! Nope, not looking to get myself a bad name or get labeled a sleeze (no more than the usual for attempting to make pron anyway :) ) I think i will take your advise and just go ahead with the scene, what you say makes a lot of sense. Thanks for clearing up the murky waters! Cheers! R |

| musicgu7 Member 40 Posts 5/08 | Thanks for chipping in guys! No, i dont think anyone of you are jerks or assholes i really do belive you are giving me advise from experience and i appreciate it. "99% of those who attempt to get into this business now lose most or all of their money" Took that into consideration, but its not a total loss, since i am the one who is shooting and getting laid... getting laid by such beautiful women who do some of the nastiest things on camera is not such a huge loss :) If i was paying someone else and was only behind the camera... that would be a little different. I'm a pretty positive sort of guy who looks at the glass half full most of the time... but that does not mean i have blinded myself into thinking i am gonna be a zillionaire and theres no chance of not making a cent, totally took that into consideration. "Unless you have a product that is totally unique and innovative...." Totally unique and innovative in the adult industry? hehehe would have to jump a bike over 3 trucks totally nude and with a hard on... then hit a ledge with my front tire which catapults me 4 meters forward and into the open legs of a model... and if for whatever reason i don't penetrate her... will have to keep re-doing the shot! :)) Worst part is, even if someone does manage to do that... someones gonna say: thats too much, just give me old fashioned porn where boy meets girl and they both bang their brains out, keep it simple stupid! Cant please everyone! Ok, now that we've considered the negitive part and had a little fun, i have a serious question for you more experienced guys. If shooting "per scene" instead of per hour (normal 1 on 1 scene b/g, no big production.. one or two guys with camera and a model) does that mean as the guy cums its the end of the scene? For example as the model is giving him a BJ... new girl, he's totally new to the filming scene he gets too excited and comes... total filming time 2 minutes, does that count as a scene? another example: as he puts it in, again he gets too excited and like a male virgin getting laid for the first time 5 strokes and he cant hold back... does that count as a scene or what? Thanks! R |
| RobertRath Member 49 Posts 1/08 | I agree with everyone that porn is a tough industry to crack and make good money in, but its a hell of a lot easier than other industries, the restuarant business for example is notoriously difficult to make a success in, but that doesn't stop thousands of people opening new places every day. Honestly I'd think about shooting for DVD as oppose to web. I know people are saying that DVD is dead but for an outlay of say $3000 (I managed to produce one for £1500 which is about $3000) you can get 8 good scenes and have say 500 copies pressed. You only need to sell those 500 and you'll probably make a little profit. But if you want to try and compete with the big boys of online porn you'll find it even harder, why pay $30 for a small am site when Brazzers, etc. offer thousands of scenes for the same price, sometimes less. I signed up to Brazzers for $9 a month!!!! Just my 2 cents worth anyway but if it were me I'd be going the DVD route. |
| musicgu7 Member 40 Posts 5/08 | You really are a fantastic help since you have "been there" and are answering my biggest questions, was really searching all over for that answer but try google for it... it just lists sites, sites and more sites that webmasters have used those keywords for so it pretty much impossible to get an answer from there. F#ck! I think thats the best compliment you can get... you are more useful than google for information!!!! LOL! Just to confirm, it IS normal( /not a big thing) to pop multiple times for one scene when shooting right? but you have to inform the girl or agency in advance? Thanks for the advise on the DVD thing, def makes a lot of sense. Am in Europe myself, can you recommend any place for pressing DVDs? not a biggie if you dont have time, can search for that info without a problem... the main reason i considered the net instead of DVD was i have experience and pals in SEO and web promotion while i wouldnt really know where to start to sell those 500 DVDs, plus packaging etc just seems a lot more of a hassle as am used to make stuff, upload it, link to it. Note: Not beating your advise in anyway, it sounds very solid and would probably be the best way to go, and i appreciate you sharing so honestly and openly. |
| RobertRath Member 49 Posts 1/08 | As long as the girl knows what she's walking into and you've both agreed a fee then you'll be fine. You can come 50 times all over her if you like just make sure she knows before hand what's going down. Where in Europe? Im not sure who can press a DVD for you but go on bgafd.com and search for "duplication" or something and a thread will come up. As far as sleeve design goes, if you have some time, search on myspace for graphic designers, plenty will do it for free, or at least for a copy of the DVD, lol. And if you do go the DVD route send screener copies (Basic unedited copies) to as many retailers as you can. There are hundreds out there so oyu should have no trouble shifting 500 copies. Oh and also make a myspace. People underestimate it as a huge marketing tool AND a place to find new talent |
| licker Senior Member Heretic, Iconoclast, Skeptic 1141 Posts 8/03 | At a guess, with POV, I would think that concentrating on the camera work, framing the shot, lighting and everything else would completely ruin your enjoyment of actually getting laid. Plus that camera in your hands very much limits the things you can do sexually. If part of your reason for doing this is your own enjoyment, it may be worthwhile for you to hire someone else to shoot it. |

| musicgu7 Member 40 Posts 5/08 | Licker, To tell you the truth I dont know for a 100% what i am doing as it does not fall squarely into POV or anything else... its just an idea i have thats a collection of old ideas (thats why i cant claim its new either) I have considered the thousands of sites and the big companies and thought how can i even enter the market without them bullying me out immd... so came up with more of a "remix", screwed up thing is if it does get popular theres nothing to stop the big guys from doing the same thing and bullying me out anyway, sorry i cant give you more details. :( Moody, No trannies or surprises thank you! The only star dick that i want to shoot is mine! To each their own and i am no one to judge but thats just not me. Cheers guys! |

| xxaru Member 128 Posts 6/07 | With regular scenes you’re dealing with multiple angles and vantage points. And if you’re the director… the more people you have on set, the more people you have to direct. It’s a lot easier to direct when you’re not actually starring in the scene itself. I find there’s less stuff to worry about with POV, thus easier to get into the scene (and the model) and just focus on the sex. Of course, if you don’t really "direct" and just tell someone to hold the camera while you fuck some girl… then obviously you would find POV to be more difficult. |
| musicgu7 Member 40 Posts 5/08 | Been giving this a lot of planning thought... and thats what i came up with above. It will take some time before i get there though as 3some=extra model=extra expenses and right now budget is pretty much no.1 Cheers! R |
| xxaru Member 128 Posts 6/07 | If I were you, I’d try to do a few test shoots before you start investing a lot of money in this. If you don’t have a diamond in the rough when you look at those test scenes, you may want to cut your losses and start thinking about another career path. |
| musicgu7 Member 40 Posts 5/08 | Thanks for the advise, does not take a wise man to know its all good! "You’re going to need some ingenious marketing and some really great content." right now am less worried about the marketing than the content... this is going to be a biggie with me and dont know how to REALLY overcome it. TGP/MPGs are decent... but i doubt i can base everything on that. == If I were you, I’d try to do a few test shoots before you start investing a lot of money in this. If you don’t have a diamond in the rough when you look at those test scenes, you may want to cut your losses and start thinking about another career path. == Was thinking of this too... like poker; making a decision to play till the end of the hand before the flop on a full 10 table just based on your two first cards (Texas holdem) is really bad play most of the time, but in this case... what do you think is the cut of point? 5 scenes? 10? or base it on budget... 25%? 50? 75? 90? or success? 10 members in a month... 20? ..etc.. |
| xxaru Member 128 Posts 6/07 | The pros make this job look a lot easier than it really is. Beginners tend to make a lot of mistakes, and it’s unrealistic to think that you will shoot like a pro right off the bat. Be prepared to blow scenes and go through some growing pains because with no experience, and without anyone who has experience to work with you, you will essentially have to teach yourself.
