I LIKE the idea of releasing back catalog with multiple movies on a single blu-ray or HD.

There is HUGE money to be made from back catalog that currently is not economically feasible by releasing single VHS-era titles on single DVDs.

The printed music scenario is very illustrative here.
Publishers can no longer afford to release single sheet music titles for most songs because they will never sell through. The old rule of thumb, before the Internet fucked everything up, was that you had to print 5,000 copies at a time and expect to sell-through in no more than five years to make it worthwhile.

Rather than abandon these songs forever (which regrettably is happening), collections of songs (referred to as "mixed folios") are still viable in books. Typically, a book will have 10-50 songs and sell for $12.95-24.95.
When a single sheet retails for $3.95, a book for $15.95 that has the song you want plus many others is just about ALL that is keeping 90+% of most popular back catalog music in print.

So, a $19.95-24.95 porn video, on blu-ray or HD, that contains four movies -- that will NEVER otherwise see the light of day again -- is good for everybody!
I believe we WILL spend $20 to get a movie we want, as I have described it here, regardless of what the other three titles on the disc are.
The beauty of this method, officially known as the "BigBobxxx-release-of-back-catalog-porn-protocol," is that there is a customer for EACH and ALL FOUR of the titles on the disc. Trust me.

I think I also read somewhere that quad-layer (perhaps with two 2-layer sides, but maybe readable entirely from one side, can't remember) Blu-Ray discs are in the works. Those would hold 100 GB

Whether or not this is happens, the demand for most older porn titles is so low it would never justify the expense of a second run of DVD, let alone uprezing and remastering/authoring to whatever consumer HD disc prevails.

Bob's idea makes the most sense, but even there sufficient demand is questionable.
