I'm really looking forward to Michael Ninn's new movie, The Four, this looks like the Ninn movie I've been waiting for since "Shock". There aren't enough visionaries in the porn world and the fact that he's taking a (hopefully short) hiatus from making movies means that there will be less art-porn (actually I hate that term, but its the closest there is to what he and Andrew Blake does) in the world. I've got my fingers crossed that when he does return he'll do an Asian-themed movie.
The Four will be an interesting movie to see, I am also looking forward to it coming out, it seems to have a pretty strong cast..Ive always enjoyed Brea Bennet, and Alexis Love movies. We will just have to see if it can be one of the top titles of 08.
Isn't it done and just in post? If so I don't see why it would be shelved. I watched the trailer for it and unfortunately, it looked rather drab. Lots of costumes and lousy computer animation but not much else.
Yep, they separated...His new company will be called IMNINN iirc...I think it was posted somewhere here in the news...I'll dig out the AVN article later! Edit: Here's the link: AVN Story Edited by - maltedecker on 7/3/2008 7:33:41 AM
So if Michael Ninn no longer sees any profit from THE FOUR (I've heard he no longer "owns" the movie) are we doing him a disservice by buying/renting it? Thoughts?
No, I wouldn't say that anyone would be doing Ninn a disservice by renting or buying the film. In fact, if the film were to be a huge success it could even encourage Ninnworx to try and strike a better deal with Ninn and possibly getting him back on board (although that's probably not gonna happen regardless). After all, it's not like most directors in any type of film actually have real final cut on their work or see a profit after it's been released. Many directors have disowned some of their films because they weren't allowed final cut.

So does anyone know what the status of this movie is? I'm worried it won't come out by sept. 30th, the cutoff release date for AVN award nomination consideration. I would love to see this movie go up against Pirates II for best video feature. That would be an awesome battle. Without seeing either, which do you think would win?

It's obviously impossible to tell which movie is better without actually seeing the movies. But, I was posing that question based purely on the politics behind the awards. I would guess Pirates would beat The Four on the politics criterium, because DP seems to advertise more than Ninn Worx. Anyway, back to the real point. Does anyone have any way of finding out what the status is with The Four? Will it be released???
^It looked like a really poor imitation of 300, trying to copy it in every way possible, thematically, stylistically, cinematographically (is that a word?), etc. BUT with terrible acting and special effects that obviously don't compare at all. And no sex. Sometimes a big budget is not a good idea. As for the four hot stars of this movie... if the preview is to be believed, you would never even see them naked, let alone having sex.
Most sites seem to have changed the release date to 'tbd' which doesn't bode well for it making it on time. X-Rent has changed the release date to 9/30. I don't know if they are just betting that it will make it out in time or if they have information the other retailers haven't entered yet.
XRent regularly waits until a previously announced release date on a title is come and gone, before they push the release date back on their own site. For some titles, pushing a release date back another week can be a weekly occurrence.
This is odd, that nobody on the board knows anybody involved. How about Michael himself?? (I know he had a falling out with the company but I would bet my good testicle he know exactly what is going on with this film anyhow.) This is not MILF volume 37 this is a major motion picture here. Ninn has put out a press release telling the company "You put out the movie the way it is you'll get sued. I've got final edit approval and you haven't let me." more or less. So it looks like they're holding off on it till that gets resolved.
Interesting, not often do I read a director explicitly stating not to use their edit. From the sound he may be trying to separate himself from the movie, which is a bad sign.
I agree with flash! I have seen quite a few movie trailers that really hyped the film into looking like it was the best thing ever, and when I finally watched the movie I was less than impressed. There are a lot of good films coming out in September before the awards deadline and it would be crazy to say which one will probably get the award. EMS providers for ALT Porn!!!!

Well, call me crazy, but I believe that Pirates 2 is 100% guaranteed to win Best Video Feature. I would bet my left nut in fact. Plus, I don't think it will have much to do with whether the movie is actually good or not.
Yeah, that's pretty much how all awards shows go. It's not quality that counts but prestige. IMO, Pirates SUCKS and I can't image the sequel being much better. And, in case anyone forgot, due to the lack of real artists who want to shoot film, AVN has done away with the best film (aka best Paul Thomas film) category so it's just going to be best feature, no differentiation between film and video. I'd actually like to see Thomas win this year. Cry Wolf was really good and I'm sure when Pirates 2 comes out, it still won't hold a candle to Wolf.

It's pretty much accepted in the industry that the awards are solely based on how much a company pays for advertising in whatever publication is giving out the awards. If it was really based on quality, a lot of the films that have won in the past would never have won. So based on that, I would think Pirates 2 has a good shot of winning even though no one has even seen it yet and the first one was cheesy.
'The Four' trailer was edited that way on purpose. It was aimed at a general audience/PG saing, so it could be promoted through YouTube, ComicCon, at AEE and cut into a PG-13/R rated feature film for mainstream.. At least that was the plan before the split. Ninn had a rough R cut ready by May 29, waiting for a distribution deal with a mainstream company. I have heard various dates of release, including the September 2008 date with the party (which neither came to pass.) I have no accurate information from any one inside of NWSR, however some members of the press have said their inquires on the release of 'The Four' have yielded the answer of "February 2009". Michael Ninn (who by the way DOES have the right to use his name) was not allowed to finish editing the movie for the hard core version (and there were about 12 hardcore scenes, including a fucking HOT one with Cassidey and Reno), nor was he able to finish the final, fully-polished edit of the R version. From what I understand from personal conversations with Ninn, what he is trying to do at this time is have his name removed from the movie, or stop it from being released if his name is left on it, or if at all possible stopping the release entirely. There are also copy right issues that have to be addressed before the movie can be released as well.... From what I have seen (again R rated, and not entirely finished cut) 'The Four' is a stunning movie. Michael did incredible work on it, the Ninn Girls and everyone else on screen did a fantastic job in very physically demanding roles. I have never seen the hardcore, but I was there when most of it was shot, and it is good stuff. Again, the scene with Cassidey and Reno is off the chart. I hope this movie is finally released at some point, as every single person actively involved put their blood, sweat and a whole lot of tears into this thing (literally), and it deserves to be seen. However, I have no idea if it would be what it should be if it is not edited with Michael's vision intact, and his talent behind what appears on the screen.
^What I got from the above post is two things: 1. The unbelievably terrible and obvious knock-off of 300 that we saw in the trailer was intended to be released as a no-sex-scenes version for the general public. This sounds like a terrible idea. I know they did this with Pirates, and supposedly some people watched it, but I can't imagine who. Why watch a movie with a budget of (I'm just making up numbers here for comparison) one million dollars, with pretty people who are insanely terrible at acting, trying to knock off a good movie, when you could just watch the original, that had a budget of fifty million dollars, with pretty people who are good at acting? 2. Realistically, this movie is never coming out. The terrible things that the Bible warns of in the Book of Revelations will occur before either the X-rated or the R-rated version of this film sees the light of day.

After all the hoopla at this Year's AEE, I am sorely tempted to walk around the AEE in January in a pair of leather underpants with a sign around my neck saying "Ninnworx SR!: You Suck Persian Balls!!" It won't stop me going to the Spearmint Rhino, of course ...

If "Michael Ninn" is "Michael Ninn's" real name, SR bought only the name "NinnWorx". From what I've gathered, you can't trademark your real name, only a fictitious business name. Score one for the real Michael Ninn. SR and MN should kiss and make up. It's the easiest way out of this mess. I'd like a photo of the kiss to post on my website. Actually some of the girls may have given people the impression at last years show that their was not much sex in this title or they were only doing g-g. What I later found out is that the principle sex scenes were yet to be shot. It seems they focused on all the non-sex stuff in order to get some of the extras and a trailer out of the way first.
