I was wondering if using clamps/clips on the nipples too much de-sensortises them. Does anyone know??

Too much like wearing them all day and all night?

Probably...

Nipple clamps force the blood out of nipples. If you keep blood out of any extremity for too long, you're going to cause nerve damage or worse. However, that's an issue of "too much" in a continuous stretch of time.

However, although people can build up a tolerance for pain, I can't see a biological basis for the concern that using nipple clamps frequently for a safe and appropriate duration each time would lessen nipple sensitivity. I'd no more be concerned that using my cock "too much" would lower its sensitivity.

Myk is a doctor, so I hope he chimes in here. As a sex educator and bondage enthusiast, Nina Hartley would also know a lot about this topic, I'm sure.

An excellent instructional DVD on this subject is: Fetish FAQ 2.

If you play sensibly, there should be no problems whatsoever with desensitization. Here are the general guidelines:

(1) Overly firm pressure on the nipples can permanently damage the ducts. Clamp the aureolas (the colored circular areas surrounding the nipple) instead of the very tip of the nipple.

(2) Limit clamping to not more than ten minutes. Much beyond that, and the tissue numbs from reduced circulation anyhow, so there's no benefit to pushing onward. Take the clamps off even sooner if you observe color or temperature loss.

(3) If you're using alligator clips, the teeth need to be covered by rubber caps. Also, plastic clothespins usually have a milder bite than wood clothespins.

(4) Keep the clamps clean to prevent any infections. Soap & water and/or rubbing alcohol should be fine for plastic or metal clamps.

Thanks for the input
I've got some Clamps with a chain arriving today - they've got adjustable grip and have rubber protecting thingamys on the clamp so sounds all good

Nice! Enjoy. My nipples are actually a lot more sensitive (in a good way) ever since I started experimenting with these types of sensations four years ago.

Gave them a test drive last night - Fucking awesome - I've messed around will bull dog clips (big paper clips) and they were cool but tugging on the chain pulling both nipples was amazing! :-D
