I just visited the redlight website and find out that there are no director's name on some of the dvd front cover any more.
Any one know why this fucxxx thing will happen to a so called big studio like Redlight. We also understand the importance of a porn director when fans choose to purchase the products. Hey hey.........
They don't think directors are important or they wouldn't of let all the good ones go. They feel they can sell on name alone. They are a small shell of the company they once were and it's a shame. Greed does strange things to good people.
Most important thing for me is the Director! That's how I buy my DVDs, as I know no matter were the director ends up his movies will be the same. The company just sells there product kind a like a art house sells the artist work. Then my next choice would be the girl. Then the guy and the company if I cant find the first 2, but usually I never had to dip so low.
Funny how porn buyers can be more sophisticated than one would expect. Even with the name and picture of the hottest girl in porn, like Naomi, on the box cover it still comes down to the Directors when making a purchase decision. Not always, but in many instances. I too rent/buy my porn movie of late per the Director. Jules, Jake, John & John, Erik, Del Toro, Clark, Seymore cause I like the way they film.
Being a self-centered ego-maniac, I could assume that the reason RLD stopped listing the director on some of their releases is directly due to my ongoing commentary about refusing to even rent David Luger movies! LOL. I noticed this immediately, and if I'm not mistaken, it's Luger's series that they've stopped listing the director on.
Now I do remember reading somewhere recently that RLD had fired David Luger. If that is indeed true, then they may be releasing movies he's already shot, but taking his name off the box for contractual reasons.
Or, perhaps the managements feels that promoting the directors was a bad idea, given that they all left and took their fans with them. If the management can convince buyers that the RLD label itself is a good enough reason to buy a DVD then they'll be insulated from the effects of future changes in their directorial staff.
What if movies were compilations? Not saying that scenes aren't new, but what if multiple directors contributed. What is scenes were bough wholesale?
Something's up, the titles that I have scene lately only fit into the RLD bin due to the logo on he box. THe quality and attitude is nothing like what drew me to RLD years back.
That's always been my assumption when a RLD title doesn't include a director. Given all of the "in-house" directors that have left over the last few months, there has to be a bunch of movies that were never completed by the director who started them. So, they just got another directors or directors to finish those titles.
I guess that the most honest thing to do, in that case, would be to list all of the directors. But listing no director is better than listing just one, when they weren't in charge of all of the scenes.
I hate when they mix Directors in the same movie. It just comes out bad and I dont waste my money on it. I dont mind comps as long as its the same director that created the whole mix but thats it.

I don't have the answers, but that could be the resaon why there titles are not as well spoken of these days. It's too bad. from what I recall, RLD/PXP was the 1st new company to blow out of left feild and rock the industry.
To play devils advocate, if people like the quality of RLD/PXP movies, they'll continue to rent or buy them. Also, since so many of the big name directors have left, it makes sense to let the product speak for itself while they go through these changes.
I think these are thrown together from many director's archives... you know from before they left the company and all.

I've just watched Perversions Unleashed and I can confirm that the scenes are directed from different directors.For example, in one scene you can hear Jake Malone behind the camera talking and in the next scene you can clearly recognise David Luger's style and bad selection of male performers...which of course sucks...
yeah - thats how i was with ana/dia a few years ago but then came to realize that they went to shit! im starting to check out their stuff again but hell its been like 3 or 4 years.
That's the catch, isn't it. Product that is any good is usually done by the better creators, the Directors. If you don't see a Director credited you know that the product is screaming "I suck, don't buy me, You'll just throw your money down the toilet" I will always stick with name brand which is the directors not the company. Kinda like sports and there athletes. were the athletes go usually is were the winning team is.
But use to buy movies that you directed, and since I haven't seen any more of your work with Platinum X, I don't buy 'em. In some of the old RLDs the directors got too involved and became a distraction.
I would guess that the decision to remove the director credit has more to do with input from their lawyers than the marketing side of things.

I wouldn't, but then again this was from my perspective, and I was never a fan of Extreme. Doesn't mean that they aren't good, I just never like the rougher side of porn.
Either way, if Extreme was 1st, credit due, but I think RLD/PXP held a bigger share at their peak.
I wasn't nominating them as a fan. Their product certainly qualifies as left field, and they generated a lot of buzz the year they started, not least because of Black's obnoxious behavior.
Without the porn-equivalent of the Directors Guild of America to keep director credits legit, and without any other method of ensuring truth in labeling, it's a jungle out there in Pornoland.
