EVERY studio started off with one release. Well ok some times they start off with 2 or 3 or maybe even 4 releases at one time to get known.. but my point is all studios start at ground zero. As for NJ, they are going up and up. I have seen their titles and they put out some solid product. Is it the best stuff I have seen by anyone? No, but I do know it's a lot better than some I have seen. [Link]

For a small studio NJ Films now has 20 titles of their own, they distribute Jon Dough (he WAS with Hustler) and Insanity Pictures...not bad.They just marked their 1 yr anniversary March 1st...again BIGG SEXXY, what do you do? Every studio starts off small but most are not as small as you might guess. Most "new studios" are actually subsidiaries of bigger studios regardless of what they might say. Their infrastructure is already intact and they don't have to deal with any of the political BS that goes on. We work hard and put everything we have into our productions. Hind site is always 20/20 and I will admit that I would do some things different if we could go back to the beginning, but you really should check out some of out newer stuff. I look at product from other studios all the time to see what other people are doing - I would put our stuff up against anyone's! I have been in this business a long time - it may surprise you as to what I have done in the past and what I was responsible for. Also, I have seen producers that I was selling or dealing with when I was working for other people, jump ship and go to a "major studio" that had a BIG name. Their product sold MORE with the other studio - not because it was better product (it was the same product) BUT because of the "bigger studio's" name. Some reviewers do the same thing. We give every production our all and make it the best we can make it and better than the last - there is no way that any studio can please everyone so we wont try. I always hope that they might have new ideas to improve the genre. Sometimes I get disappointed such as "Whore Gaggers" by John West (Anarchy) which is the worst blowjob movie of the year so far, but other times I am pleasantly surprised such as the great series from Crush Video "Vacuum Hoes" or the fantastic artsy film from Bordellonoir "Born Whores". I haven't seen anything from NJ Films yet, but I was at their website a few days back and they list a movie called "Ukrainian Cocksuckers" so it looks like they are finally having a oral series. I cant wait for May 3. If it turns out to be a all bj movie, I will post a review as soon as I get it. [Link]

But some other production companies do not. I'll bet there are production companies that have put out ten films already and half the porn buyers have never heard of them. Sometimes a company has been around for quite a long time, and only people inside the industry know they exist, except for a handful of buyers that happened to pick up their vid or dvd. Part of that is the publicity and advertising machine and part is their distribution connections. Most production companies start out on a tight budget. They can't afford the big, splashy ads in AVN or Adam Film World. They are trying to put their money into their product. Most of them are still looking for distributors for their movies, or decide to distribute them on their own because they can't find one. Like a very wise person said towards the beginning of this string, every company starts with one movie. Personally, I'll take a shot with a new company like NJ or X-Play or ArchAngel or some of the lines Freedom has signed on and see what they have going for them. It certainly beats the tired old series that are going on edition #27 that some of the bigger and older production and distribution companies are churning out. Sometimes a fairly well known director has changed their distributor, and it will seem like I should know them, but I can't place them until I've seen it. Those can be nice surprises.:) Sometimes I'll see a new director from a long established production and distribution company and grab that, like The Zipper who's now shooting under the Hustler label. Reviews are our friends! I certainly understand not wanting to plunk down $25 bucks for something you don't know if you'll like. But between VOD and all the review sites, it's not that much of a risk now. There are a bunch of companies (including some big ones) I've never got a chance to review yet. Many times I'm just not aware of them because I'm not their target market. Other times I look at the titles and the performers and have no interest. But if I review a new title from a new company and it stinks, I probably won't try to suffer through reviewing another.
