If "Pirates 2" is considered a comedy, then you're not the "prohibitive favorite". If "Pirates 2" is not considered one, then, yes, you probably are the favorite.

I would imagine that Pirates 2 will win the Best Video Award with ease which is the most desired award from a production company standpoint. That is a great movie and yes very funny and enjoyable to watch. It is so good it should be banned at the AVN Awards and put into the Academy Awards instead.

Well it has an all star cast as concerns the female talent. Sunni Lane, Jenna Haze, and Sasha Grey all in one picture.Endora is a take on the "Witch of Endor" mentioned in the Bible. Has I dream of Jeannie been done yet? What about the biblical tale of Salome?

Jeff, I think you should do Not Oprah XXX. It will look just like Oprah's talkshow, except that Oprah (Jada Fire) will get deep throat gagged by each guest that comes on.
For two and a half hours.

We'd have to really fatten up Jada and I don't see that happening so no Oprah from X-Play. We are in pre-production for our Cosby Show spoof and maybe Jada could be one of the Huxtable girls' friends. Who the hell knows but I can tell you this might be the best parody we have ever done if I can finish the damn script. I have to stop watching re-runs of Cops late at night.

Yes, we will have the entire family plus a bunch of other 'friends' of the family. We are going to play this really true to the TV show (except of course for all the fucking. We start shooting on December 9th until the 21st. We are getting a big order of Jello Pudding for the set!

I looked at 3 youtube clips for this and the movie just looks terrible.
Not funny at all.
Nina Hartley looks really good and she and Mike Horner seemed to be the only decent actors in it.
I though the use of a laugh track was kinda clever but the movie really looks bad.
I think the idea of doing spoofs is great but they really do need to be funny.
Again, I'm basing my comments on the trailer. I haven't seen the movie which may very well be a riot.

I think we received 19 AVN Award nominations for this movie which is pretty damn amazing. Hey, you either like it or you don't but it just made the cover of the Adam & Eve Catalogue which is pretty big news for X-Play. Now hundreds of thousands of people that get the catalogue will see the movie and have the chance to purchase it. I will say this, Not Bewitched XXX was the only movie that I directed that actually made me laugh when we edited it as there are very funny moments in it. Also, now that the new Brady spoof is ready, that movie starring Teagan is pretty fucking funny too. You guys be the judge but if you haven't seen the movie, it is really not fair to review it don't you think?

Jeff Mullen,
I hope the Cosby Show parody contains a lot of hard and dirty gonzo sex, such as acts like gangbangs, blowbangs, hard anal sex, Dp, DVPs, and DAPs. I think what was missing from your company’s past parody TV show porns were hardcore gonzo sex. In my own humble opinion the more innocent and pure the mainstream show that’s being parody the more hardcore and dirty the sex should be in the takeoff version, for example if your company was going to do a takeoff of “Leave It To Beaver” the sex content should be on the level of what can be found in an edition of the Fuck Slave series.

I disagree. While gonzo style sex scenes can work in a feature film, see The Adventures of Buttman for an example of how it can work, it won't work in your standard feature film. Since it is a feature I'd prefer that the actresses and actors stay in character during the sex scenes.

Flash,
I get what you're saying but you have to remember that a number of the female porn stars they have been using in their other parody tv show productions are no strangers to hardcore style gonzo sex, performers like Arora Show, Jenna Haze, and Hillary Scott.

Jeff Mullen,
I hear your company is also going to do a Married With Children parody porn. If this is true I think the above could also apply to a "not so innocent and pure" mainstream show llke Married With Children, meaning the sex content of the takeoff should be as and/or more dirty and hardcore than what could be hinted to in the original program.

But the point of features is the sex in the story. If the characters are going to remove themselves from their character for the sex scenes, what is the point. You might as well rent a gonzo production.

Flash,
Personally I don’t really see the point of doing a porn parody of a wholesome (and not so wholesome) tv classic if they aren’t going to have the iconic female characters we all have come to know and love in some really hardcore gonzo sex situations.
To answer your above post I think it is to do feature movies with hardcore gonzo sex scenes, if you want proof of this check out The Fashionistas, (Evil Angel),, Eli Cross’ Sex Z Pictures features, and Jim Powers’ Sin City features.

I wouldn't call the sex scenes in The Fashionistas series nor the sex scenes in the features I've seen from Eli Stone to be gonzo scenes. I don't remember them breaking the fourth wall. I haven't seen Jim Powers work for Sin City. I have seen some of his old feature work for Heatwave which I also wouldn't call gonzo sex.

Flash,
When I use the term gonzo I do not just use it to refer to the types of sex acts I mentioned a couple of post back, I also use it in reference to the level of intensity and aggressiveness that can be commonly found in the sex scenes in more recent gonzo productions and the features I mentioned in my last post.

Gonzo sex is when the camera or camera man is specifically acknowledged in the scene. It has nothing to do with the sex acts performed, intensity in which they are performed, length of scene or anything else.

Flash,
Are you sure about that discription of gonzo, because while that does describe a certain type of gonzo movie I don't think it's a perfect definition of the entire gonzo genre. I could be wrong but I was under the impression that a gonzo movie is a series of sex scenes without a full drawn out script linking them together. The sex scees might have a common theme and set-up scenario to them but they are not apart of boarder screenplay that is responsible for why and how each of them occur.

From the porn dicktionary:
What you are describing is simply an all sex movie if there is not plot at all or a vignette movie if there are little mini stories/setups.

My personal take on this is that actors in feature movies should remain true to their characters. It wouldn't be appropriate for Cindy Brady to scream "stick your big fat cock in my tiny pussy you motherfucker," for example. But then again, it might be totally strange to be watching her getting banged in her backyard in the first place. We just wrapped 8 days of shooting Not the Cosby Show XXX and this very subject came up in our conversations with the actors. When Denise had sex, although it was graphic and hardcore, it was within the character and fit the moment and the story. We did add some orgy scenes and multiple 3-ways to spice things up so I am sure many will love that but X-Play is always mindful of what the context is.
On a side note, I have to let everybody know that Emy Reyes played a role that had her banging Theo and I must say she is a wonderful performer. Great attitude, wonderful spirit, a pretty young thang and even though she was on set until 5AM one night this week, her smile never left her face.
I think you will love this one. Our next movie will make a debut at the AEE in Vegas- Not Three's Company XXX starring a cast you might not expect. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

Jeff Mullen,
I have 2 thoughts in responds to the above post. The first is about how I feel porn companies should deal parodying characters from mainstream movies and tv shows. I think they should go about this task the same way a show like SNL deals with it, which is by exaggerating aspects of the mainstream character’s personality and mannerisms. So for example if a porn company is parodying a very naïve and innocent mainstream female character that company should exaggerate those personality aspects in the takeoff version. I think this could provide them with the ability of believably placing that character in scenarios where she is skillfully talked into participating in some really pushing the envelope type sexual situations.
My second thought deals with the fact that I believe it is possible to have a parody version of a mainstream character like Cindy Brady scream a line like "stick your big fat cock in my tiny pussy you motherfucker". In my opinion all you would have to do is utilize the suggestion I mentioned in my first thought and then place the takeoff version in a scenario in which male and/or female character skillfully manipulates her into willingly participating in an extremely hardcore sex session that will result in her uttering such a line.

Hello alexl467, There are numerous ways in which to portray characters in every movie. Your way is valid and would be very funny. We tend to not play characters that way though and I have seen parody porn from way back in the 80s for example that dealt with characters in an over-the-top manner and it works for those people. For example, I am currently working on the writing aspect of our porn musical which we hope to shoot near the end of 2009 and I could easily lampoon a subject and make a mockery of sorts of it, or I can take a different approach. There is a very successful musical porn from VCA from either the late 90's or the early 2000's called Misty Beethoven the Musical and they completely went over the top with a singing penis crooning sex songs. It was very funny and that worked for them but that wouldn't work for X-Play. Our sex musical for example will be an original story but it won't be over-the-top in exaggerated acting delivery. When we actually shoot this, it will (hopefully) be like watching a real musical with great original music and believable characters telling a compelling story. We just happened to get to watch them have sex too but since I am a super fan of musicals (I am not gay)I have to be as true to the styles that I love. At first we were going to spoof High School Musical but later decided to create an original epic.
You know if I had all the answers I would have a hit movie every time out. I have to shoot what I feel in my heart and what I enjoy and also what will work in the marketplace. We are in very difficult times here in the porn world and any fuck-ups can cost us dearly. We are a very small company next to Wicked, DP, Hustler, A&E, Vivid and even SexZ so every move we make has got to be the right one. So far so good as there is a big audience for our style of product but unless we keep the quality up as high as we can, people will move on to the next big thing. I think your idea is great but just not right for X-Play at this time but what the hell do I know. I'm just a piano player turned producer/director!!! Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy Fucking New Year!!!!!!
