Did you buy the PureVideo codec/driver from nVidia? and if you did how does it perform?
The nVidia page talks a good talk about it but from their screen shots I seem to be getting fine quality DVD playback using Media Player Classic or VLC player. If something looks funky on one it usually looks fine on the other.
Or one of several other player programs.
Anyway what I want to know is if you think it is worth paying to download the PureVideo software from nVidia.

i have this, i think, but it came with my computer. i watch digital tv and movies on my computer and it all looks great. i don't really know anything about it though, seeing as i didn't research it to buy it.

Harri: the free trial seems to only be for the audio features. I am running in stereo so I doubt there will be much improvement unless I buy a Dolby receiver and some more speakers.

I think the reference to "all audio features" means it's a demo version of the "Platinum" version -- the one that has the most audio bells & whistles. I don't think it means that the demo doesn't include the video stuff.

TheaterTek and PowerDVD Ultra both use Purevideo. Quality is excellent under MCE 2005.
The famous LG dual-format hi-def drive has an OEM copy of PowerDVD Ultra bundled; the full version of PowerDVD Ultra is $72 from Newegg, so this is a good deal.
