It would be equally interesting to hear about the new production. In my opinion, O - The Power of Submission was a brave attempt for a 2006 movie - especially the field of adult cinema as we know it these days. I am very happy to see that it paid off and spawned a sequel (only the first, one hopes). I'm looking forward to this one with great anticipation, verging on slight concern. Release date, as announced already in late April was set for September, then moved to November. As for online promotion, there's hardly anything, no cover, no pre-order option, certainly no official website. I get the impression this is a pretty big release... (maybe I missed something; googling "surrender of o" gets you a heap of stuff about the release party of the first O movie. Confusing, a tad.) Any news on what's happening? Being a bit ”old school” about adult cinema, I appreciated the effort on storyline and dialogue, of which there is quite a bit - some of these scenes are also every bit as sensual (a rare expression in adult cinema today) as the actual sex scenes (like Bree bathing Kayden or the weird but nice, if too short, "salon" scene with O playing the piano). In fact, there could have been even more dialogue/storyline scenes here. As Bree says in the BTS interview (or words to this effect); "I usually go in, fuck, and that’s it. This is different." This film sometimes had me thinking of legendary 60-70s director Joe Sarno and his ambitious, psychological ventures into the world of carnal knowledge. Even the sex scenes hold an unusually high degree of interest as to where the story is going. Plus, they're pretty hot... As I seem to recall, the film was shot in less than a week. Very good going of y’all, to say the least. Kudos, too, for the behind the scenes footage. Not only is it interesting (and pretty sexy now and then), it also gives a great insight into the hard work that can go into a f**k flick, although this is clearly much more than that. I hope it goes down well and would really like to see more elegant, BDSM-themed films like this. Seemingly, I’m not alone. So keep up the good work. [Link] |

Keep in mind that the author of the original books had no intrinsic feel or understanding of D/s and was creating a story to captivate her kinky lover. She understood the personalities of the players, but not their motivation or inner lives. The books reflect that lack of emotional connection to this particular sexual orientation. Ernest was certainly not channeling Ms. Greer in the first the first episode. He was, however, speaking from many year's experience by showcasing to the inner strengths, and contradictions, of any woman who dares to love on her knees. Most of the submissives I know are pretty fierce, and will just as soon rip off your face as to give you their ass. It's what makes D/s so exciting actually, is playing with such strong personalities. And you're not wrong about the fine performances of Bree and Kayden. Just great scenes from each of them. Mulholand, Thanks for noticing, and appreciating, the non-sex scenes. Ernest likes to put them in and would do more if we had the time. It was a five day shoot, which is quite respectable these days. We'd have rehearsals, too, but there's no budget for them. He thinks everything in a sex movie should be sexy, including the story, and I think he nails it here. Bree worked very hard and it shows. What I've always pushed for is porn to address more "universal" themes--that strike home to a much wider audience base. It's what separates "O2" from Paul Thomas' recent "Cry Wolf." Both are excellent porn features, but one appeals to a much greater audience.
