I turned on some new forum navigation today. Hope you find it easier and faster to use.
Please post feedback, questions, comments here.

Looks like there might be an issue in calculating pages, as I just got a message that I was on page 4 of 3 in a thread. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention to how I arrived at that state, nor was I able to easily reproduce it.
I will add that I had navigated from the last page to the previous one.
PS - Just noticed that the page navigation at the top is squished into the header bar. It still works, though it can be a tad tricky, but I wonder why you didn't put it outside like the one at the bottom is.

Interesting. I suppose I should have tested the formatting in other browsers. It works fine in Chrome. I'll check IE and Safari too.

I'm seeing errors today like Hardware mentioned. In addition, I see threads I know I posted in (I even know where in the thread it was) and my comments are now missing.
I don't see my comments anymore in Electric_Logan's anal creampie thread in the Porn Pool. Maybe someone else can respond whether they see my comments there still.
I'm using Firefox.

Interesting. I haven't deleted anything from the database so the posts are still there somewhere.
However, I have completely changed all of the database routines that generate forum pages and topic pages. There must be a bug there somewhere.
I'll look at it now.

BTW, if you look at your profile page you can see the snippet from the anal creampies thread is still there. It's just not being included in the topic display for some reason. I suspect a bad SQL join.

Yeah I see it listed on my profile page. I just switched to an old version of Internet Explorer and the same problem exists. Both show 17 posts in that thread but there are only 12 on my end.

It was a database query error. It is fixed now.

Found a couple more glitches: In this thread
https://forum.adultdvdtalk.com/poll-worst-a-list-acting-performance-ever/do-you-think-joey-starr-gets-paid#post
clicked on the "Next topic" link (Do you think Joey Starr gets paid ...) from page one and it goes to page 2 of the current thread, instead.
Click on next topic from page two and the screen blinks, but ends up still on the same page.
Maybe because both topics appear in the header?

This should be fixed now. It was the absence of a "/" in the URL for the next topic so it was appending as a relative URL.

BTW, is the site significantly faster for most people now? It should be. The database routines have been changed so the paging happens much more efficiently. The old system would send the entire thread to the web server and the paging was done on the web server. That was very cumbersome for long topics. The new system handles paging as part of the database query so it only returns at most 50 posts per page for any topic.

I don't know if it's related to the navigation changes, but a photo has gone missing from this thread. It was a damned fine photo, too (and totally image policy-compliant).

I'm still seeing problems.
If I go to Porn News and click on the mandatory condom thread I started back in December, it does what it usually does and jumps me to the latest posts in that thread for me. In this case, on page four and Goldsteins post.
At the top of that page 4 is my original post that started the thread from December. That shouldn't be there. If I then click another page and then click back to page 4, everything is right again. My initial post isn't at the top of page 4.
I hope that makes sense.

I just wanted to add that it isn't just threads that I've started. I just tested the same problem with the Raven Alexis thread in Star Crossed (a thread I read regularly) and the same thing happens. I didn't start that thread but the original post from 2009 appears at the top of the page. Switch pages and go back and it is correct again.
I tried a multi-page thread I've never read and couldn't get the problem to occur (until I went back to read it again).
The problem appears to be with whatever the feature is called that jumps us to the latest posts in a thread.

I did not delete the image. You might want to ask Blossom if she removed it. I don't see it in her files section. I haven't changed anything with the forum image portion of the website.

I don't know if it's related but the forums are acting weird for me today (they were yesterday too). Some replies I make don't show up, some edits I make are not effective.
Anyone else having problems?

^I've noticed a couple of recent threads with no replies don't show up at all. But if you click reply, you can see the content of the lead post.

Yes I had that too. There was this post in polls I wanted to move, could read it the first time but when I got back to it later there was no content. Had to reply for content to show up again and I could move it.
I have answered in the Rate my pic thread and the answer didn't register, had to answer again...

I think this is the case for any topic with zero replies or almost any of them. That is the case for 4 topics in star-crossed anyhow though I swear one of them I could read the first time I clicked on it. I was wondering if a first post had been edited by the poster or a mod (or posted by a mod) that it was doing this but not sure on that.
I was also wondering what would happen if there was a duplicate name to a thread since the topic subject line is part of the url now. Looks like it puts a 6 or 7 digit number identifier at the end.

I think the not seeing the first post in a topic with no replies maybe only happens when you click on a topic a second time. It's already been read.

This is one of my favorite online places so I love any enhancements as long as you're in the mood to make them. Unfortunately, I can't be a huge amount of help working the bugs out unless they're really obvious. I generally don't notice something's wrong as long as I click a link and it works more or less the way it's supposed to.
I did notice a couple of days ago that the actual last post in the Mandatory Condoms thread wasn't made by the person it said it was made by in the "Last post" column. In fact, that post was actually missing. But it eventually showed up and I haven't noticed that error again anywhere.
Overall, I really like it.

On the 'active topics' page we still have all the page numbers for long topics. Can you fix that similar to the forum pages, the 1..., 455, 456 thingy?

Now we just wait for the search engines to re-index everything.
A few more minor things to implement with the new navigation and URLs but they are transparent to forum users. So I think I'm pretty much done with the new navigation. If anyone sees strange behavior please post here.
Thanks.

Just saw where there was a reply by jrsl in this thread that wasn't indicated from outside (the folder didn't change color, the last post by and time hadn't changed etc)
Added another post in it myself just know and it did bump up as it should.

I had just updated a little over 17,000 replies that included links to other topics in the forum. I was updating the links to use the new URLs. I kinda freaked out a little when that link didn't go where I thought it should.

Here's another somewhat navigation-related request: currently, if you're reading a thread and you click on one of the participant's names to take a quick look at what else that person has been saying recently, you sometimes get the "x has not enabled public access to their profile" message, which is basically an unhelpful dead-end. (Has anyone ever actually clicked the "request access" button? Has the secretive weirdo or troll who didn't enable public access to begin with ever actually relented?) Could this be changed to provide the same "Recent Forum Posts" listing that we get if we click on a non-secretive person's name? Or at least to provide a ready-made search link to produce such a listing? the way it is now, you have to copy the person's name, then navigate out of that screen and get back to a page that has the Search link - it's cumbersome.

^ Not really. I think the 'tabbed browsing' makes it a lot easier actually. I often navigate with many tabs open at once. The only pages that matter are the ones that you are on at any given time. Closing it and you simply continue on with the tabs that are open...etc..etc..
Having your posts set to private keeps them from the google search. Changing that defeats the purpose of having it at all. Personally I don't really care that my posts are searchable by google.

Why is it that if I read a thread, in Firefox, and I see a term or a word or a name in a post that I'm not familiar with, I can highlight it, right-click on it, and one of the options in the ensuing pop-up menu is "search Google for ...", but if I am composing a post, and try to do the same thing, the "search Google for..." option is not in the menu?

I always use the forum from my iPhone and I liked having this --> All Forums > Sex Talk on the bottom of the thread titles like it is above them. It made for faster browsing on the iPhone. I know the wheel with all the forum sections is in the lower right but the other one was a lot better and easier. In my opinion. Other than that this site is perfect for the iPhone. Please don't make a mobil site for the smartphones
