Sunday morning in the Valley and already it's hotter than two dogs fucking. We're rolling in the white Escalade, off of Ventura – the corpus cavernosum that curves westward from Tujunga to Topanga – and up into the Santa Monica mountains. Ever wonder where they keep those "porn houses"? They keep them up here, where the sunlight streams through bay windows and the ceilings go on forever, where the driveways wind higher and higher, where the maids are Mexican and the furniture can't ever fill the acres of marble floorspace, where you experience that crazy sense of déjà vu and answer the door expecting to see a petite young woman aged 18 years and six weeks dressed up like a Girl Scout or a cheerleader or a Catholic schoolgirl precocious and guileless in her plaid or a UPS trainee overly eager to shed the utilitarian fabric of her trade – special delivery!

But it's not quite like that. Because when we get there, for Bryan Xin's day-long shoot for his Vivid feature Rough Draft , no one knows who is going to join Roxy Deville for the afternoon scene. All week, a wave of gonorrhea – or similar STD potluck – has capsized booking after booking. That, plus the usual porn girl unpredictability, has caused a relatively simple GGB match-up to change twice. LA Direct is pushing a short list of hyper-blondes, the brassy fake-boob types completely opposite from the original casting. Not gonna happen. More phone calls. Soon enough, there's an SUV full of Spiegler Girls out front. Take-out orders never happen like this in Brooklyn. Tia Tanaka has arrived, and, though it's tricky to deduce from the outset, Xin's gotten very lucky today.
