There's a lot of literature out there that suggests the first thing most societies attempt to control is the sex lives of its members, because if you can control that most basic, fundamental, natural, instinctual desire in people, then you can control people in general. That's what it's all about really: control. People try to degrade, debase, dehumanize, objectify porn performers because it makes it easier for them to forget how chained they are by society's morals and how some people have managed to free themselves from that control. It's part fear, part jealousy, and we all know that those are the path to the dark side. It makes me almost proud that I recognized ages ago just how repulsive those social morals were, and they were easy to reject once I understood the insidious reasons why they existed. Now there are few professions I have more respect for, and there's no problem with "objectifying, dehumanizing, etc." performers because I don't legitimize the stigma that leads people to do it. It does make me sad to hear about all the crap that so many undeservedly face because of it, though, and Lorelei is definitely right about there not being any documentaries out there that fairly portray the industry or those that work in it. Frankly, I'd love to see a documentary that exposed the hypocrisy and evils that happen among those that try to vilify it, while showing the far greater honesty and humanism of those that work in it.
