I just watched Lucas Kazan's "American Holidays" and posted a write up on it on the review portion of the site, but let me just say this is one fucking hot film!

I could watch Frederico Bulsara and Gennaro Grimaldi along with the rest of this cast for hours! It's beautifully filmed too!

Check it out!

I read another review a while back saying it had too much of a "travel brochure" vibe to it, and alot of the sex was shot from kind of far away. Did you notice any problems like that?

It sure looks like a great movie, though. I can only image Victor Racek and Etorre Tosi in the same scene MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm curious if anyone else has tried playing American Holidays on a Mac. My Apple DVD Player is currently all I've got, and it's giving me audio only (not video) on my copy of this disc. I should have a chance to check it in another player within a couple of weeks, but meanwhile I'm wondering whether my particular copy is defective or if there's a cross platform problem in the authoring.

Sorry, YG, but I'm no help. My copy plays on all four of my DVD players, an PC/Creative Labs, 2 Sonys and a Sampo.

Thanks, GaySatyr! I do appreciate your checking on that. I'm planning to start an iMac DVD Problem thread after I do a little more testing on American Holidays and a couple of other discs. I just need to see if they play in PowerDVD (PC), and that should tell me whether the individual DVDs or the authoring is bad. I'll put the answer and the link here as soon as I have them.

What's killing me is that the stills in the photo gallery display just fine. I can see what the guys look like; I just can't see them in action. Talk about a tease...

Sorry, I've been so busy!

I didn't find this to be a travelogue and the sex is great!

It was just gorgeous to watch and I've really gotten to the point of findiing the European men to be so frigin hot! I just really liked this film.

Have you seen Kazan's newest video, Out in Tuscany - it's fantastic!

I've finally got a hold of this movie (I'll write my review eventually...) but it really astonished me how much this reminded me of Kazan's earlier flick, "Across the Ocean".

It featured alot of the same men, and some of the locations looked nearly identical. I was seriously deja-vu-ing the whole time I was watching it!

Do you consider this a bad thing or a good thing?

I've seen two of Kazan's softcore remixes and found them beautiful but more tedious than erotic. However, I've liked all of his hardcore titles that I've seen thus far. Like Bjorn's stuff, I consider all of them to be keepers.

No but Kazan titles are definitely on my "to buy list"!

I'm not sure. American Holidays is clearly the better flick. Across the ocean is good, but not up to Kazan's normal standard. Maybe both movies were shot at the same time? That would explain the similar locations.

Here's the update I promised earlier.

My particular copy of American Holidays is not defective; it plays flawlessly in PowerDVD (a Windows application) and in a Marantz standalone machine. I think it is safe to assume that this title is incompatible with Macs, however, since it is playing audio only and not video on my computer.

Thank you again everyone for your help. My iMac Problem DVD thread will be coming soon, but so far this is the only gay movie (of the extremely limited number that I've tried) that's given me trouble.
