Has anyone found a good "monthly fee" type site (similar to Netflix) for renting both adult AND mainstream videos? I've been searching online and it seems like the mainstream stores either don't offer adult videos or they have a rather small selection. I want a service that has a large number of both types of videos, plus foreign and independent films, etc.

You'd think some company would start doing that. I'm sure a lot of people would like to get ALL TYPES of movies from the same online site and avoid paying for two memberships at two separate businesses.

Check out Greencine.com it could use more titles but it's the best overall selection that I have found. Haven't tried it yet, but I plan to next month unless someone has a better place to try.

I've heard that Greencine has a relatively small adult section. Unfortunately, you can't see their selection unless you are a member.

Given the overhead involved in starting a rental service and having to stock at least twice the physical number of discs to cover both adult and mainstream, I don't know who would enter that market. With Netflix and a couple other big companies having the corner on the mainstream market, you can't really compete and make any money.

If anything, my suspicion is that a company willing to do both mainstream and adult would probably do two separate offerings so they could get two monthly fees instead of one. Or at least charge a premium for adult as an add-on.

I recently subscribed to eroticrentals.com, my first month has been a satisfactory service. You must check their selection to see if what they have is your "cup of tea", but the turnaround is fast and overall quite satisfactory

I just looked at greecine.com. Like Saki says, you can't see the adult listings (in fact, the adult page won't come up at all!). However, you can do an Advanced Search for adult titles by categories...I did a search by cast for Kobe Tai--nothing. Then I did a search by studio, Vivid, and only 4 films come up. Seems like they must have a small selection of adult video. Bigger is better! ;)

It does look like they have a pretty cool selection of other independent or alternative titles though.

I was looking for the same thing for awhile, but in the end I just decided to go with bushdvd.com because of all the positive feedback from here.

As far as mainstream dvds I now use the blockbuster freedom pass. I used netflix for awhile which is good, and although cheaper then the freedom pass, there's just something about going down to the video store and picking out a movie I guess. Blockbuster on its own sucks though...IMO. They had to jump on the bandwagon sooner or later.

Anyway when I was looking I did come across this site, rentalflix. In the top far right, go to "adult" and you can browse their whole selection. It's a decent selection, only thing is I haven't seen any feedback for them around here or anywhere else.

If you decide to give them a try, let us know how it goes. I would still consider using one service for everything. There is a coupon code "flix" which gives you 35% off the first month.

I know bush has the best prices and has a good selection. Xrent has a larger selection but are slightly higher. I would think there would be a place to sell both but even in stores around where I live (regular movies)if they do sell porn it's usually penthouse or at the most vivid and wicked. Good luck but like what was mentioned getting that pass at blockbuster is probably your best bet then going with bush or xrent.

Hey, Coyote, thanks for that link to rentalflix. It looks like what I've been looking for. A large selection of mainstream and adult movies. And they have quite a number of different rental plans to suit your needs. Now, the only question is how reliable they are, but I think I'm going to give them a try after I cancel my BlueDVD account. I've been getting my adult DVDs from BlueDVD and I've generally been happy with them, but I think they've been under new ownership for the last 6 months or so and the service since then has been kind of wobbly.

Anyway, I'll let you all know how rentalflix works out.

Ditto to Jizz - I'll try out the service for the month, and then send some feedback later.

Well, here I am back to tell you about rentalflix. I'm signed up with them and they have great service, so far no problems with DVD delivery and return. Great selection of adult material, but I do find that a lot of the title are unavailable for long period of time. So they must not stock large quantities of a single title. But they have such a large selection that I can still find something I want while being on the wait list for others. Also, I have found they have a very limited selection of mainstream titles. They don't even seem to stock all new releases right away! That is their biggist problem as far as I am concerned. I'm afraid I'm going to run out of mainstream titles to rent from them before too long.

Any comments on DVD empire's rental plan? I would think that they may have the ability to exceed in mainstream and adult rentals. That is if they ever fix the problems other people have been having with their rental system.

I didn't see this one mentioned yet: DVDBarn

It's $25/month if you want mainstream movies and adult movies, 3 out at a time. That plan also includes games. You do pay a premium for that plan since they are running a promotion for $13/month for just mainstream movies (again, 3 out at a time.) For that plan, they guarantee delivery time and send another if it doesn't get there in time. (They say that $13 promotional price is good for as long as you subscribe.)

Oh yea, I have no idea what the adult selection is. You have to be a member to see it. They say 1000's.

Excalibur Films has a monthly fee rental program. You can go to either DVD rentz or Hitflix. I don't know why there are two because they seem to have the same layout and content. I have not used it to rent mainstream movies but when I signed up a couple of months ago there were 2 movie lists available. One for porn and one for non-porn. There are two downsides. One is that the service is not very fast and I believe there is only one distribution center in the LA area. The other is that the porn and non-porn movies were on two separate lists which you were not allowed to combine. Unless you wanted to receive just porn or just mainstream movies you have to switch between the two every couple of days or so.

Hey...HeyNow (Stern fan?),

Thanks for the heads up on the DVD Barn promo, that sounds like a great deal for mainstream titles. Have you tried the service at all? It says they guarantee shipping in 2 days to my zip, and they seem to have many titles. But from the few reviews I've read their service seems to have its ups and downs.

idgistephens,

Glad you're for the most part satisfied with rentalflix. But yeah I noticed there mainstream selection is sparse. If that's important to you as it is to me, I would recommend using two services...if you want to spend the money. Unless maybe DVD Barn is worth it, I'm tempted to atleast give them a go for the promo offer w/ just mainstream titles. The $24.95 deal with movies, games, and mature titles sounds good too but you'd only get to rent like one of each on average. That should be 4 out at a time, but oh well.

So far for mainstream the blockbuster pass is the best bet for me. With the 2 out at a time pass I rent like 16 movies a month for $24.95 ($14.95 for the first month). Then again the store is less then 2 miles from my house which helps. But with that and BushDVD it is like $50 a month, so I would like to spend less if possible.

There are several - we have them listed on our distributors page and also on each page dedicated to a title!
