May I ask which DVDs it is that you bought?

word of advice for your amateur peeps like me, there's a reason why those dvd's are only 9.99

Reviews, read reviews, lots of them, and as many from particular studios to get a feel for how they rate.

assman 11, this was OK to but not the better assman series that I have seen.

the one that didn't work was up and cummers 101. da chicks are hot in the cover (as in most all randy west prods) but this dvd didn't work! URGH!

Read lots of reviews. It is the best way to find a movie with the content you want and that also is good, quality porn.

See, also Saki's Buyer's Guide. It was very helpful for me when I recently got back into buying porn.

Edited to add: It has been my experience that it is better to spend on quality, rather than quantity. Spend a few extra bucks per DVD and you will end up with fewer, but FAR better porn.

It boils back/down all to often, to you get what you pay for.

Yes, there can be, and are, some bargains out there, but if you SEARCH for them rather than just go by the price, you'll probably be luckier.

I always shy away from these cheap titles DVD's because I know the quality will be bad. I don't mind paying twice the ammount for a DVD as long as I can get my money worth and 99% of the time I do.

At least to try. For the price a couple of the cheapo DVDs you can rent "Netflix-style" from any number of sites. (Check out the Shopping Forum for more info.) Some offer either free trials, or discounts for the first month. You can always buy favorite titles down the road to build up a collection.

More and more the adult industry seems to be new release driven. Years ago, I can remember to video stores holding onto titles for many years. Now, once something is just two or three months old, it seems ready for the bargain bin. It's sort of sad, and no sane person can really keep up with it all. The upside is, all this mania on constant new releases puts downward pressure on the old titles.

The key is probably to stay away from certain extreme low end studios that mostly put out crappy, low quality compilations. These studios rarely (if ever) come out with new footage. That's an easy way to spot the ones to avoid.

everyone was screwed before - my troubles started back in the VHS era - i'd order a super-gazooper ass-stretching sale from a page-ad in penthouse and would get a CASE - 20 or 50 tapes for like $100.
then I'd open this case, and I fucking needed a chair and an ambulance - might as well take a Hundred-dollar bill and rip it to shit, then give your address to every spam distributor in the world and ask him to send you porn ads in open envelopes.
The Case of VHS tapes would have half cracked, half garbage tapes with awful quality compilations, that would jam my VCR, rip and on a rewind - squeel like 20 fucking pigs being throat fucked with a shovel - my entire building would wake up... i swear to all gods!
