Ah well, I'll do better than boycott Ass Clowns, I won't buy anything from Extreme, not even Tommy B's stuff.
cheers,

| Whiplash the suave incubus Member 112 Posts 6/01 | Yesterday I rented Ass Clowns 3. Parts of it are "censored" and we are told to buy the very expensive directors cut at the website of Extreme Associates. Porn lovers in the world unite and protest against this outrageous marketing tactics. Never, never buy anything as silly as a directors cut. Don't give the greedy warthogs of Extreme Associates the pleasure of making money twice on what is most likely practically the same vid or DVD. (I know that Ass Clowns 3 is a vid and not a DVD, but I thought the subject important.) [Link] |

Maybe Extreme should consider these points for the future: Firstly who's going to pay $40 for a VHS tape today ? Secondly, by NOT releasing a directors cut on dvd, many hardcore fans will avoid the soft version because they know there's stuff missing. |
| Bill All-Star Member 5334 Posts 6/00 | Therefore, Extreme has versions that are edited for the U.S.. Other companies, such as Zane and Seymore Butts Home Video do the same thing. However, these other companies just edit this content out of their movies, so you never know that it was there in the first place. I believe that you used to be able to buy the unedited version of Seymore Butts movies directly from him, but given his recent legal troubles, I don't know if you can still do this. Extreme just blacks out the screen during these scenes, thereby letting you know what you are missing because of U.S. obscenity (censorship) laws. If you are someone who wants to purchase the unedited versions of Extreme titles, I would suggest that, rather than buying them immediatly at your retailer, you rent them first. Then decide whether you want to purchase them, and if you want the unedited (European) version of the movie. Wow, I can't believe that I just defended Extreme. |
| Whiplash the suave incubus Member 112 Posts 6/01 | Bill, I don't think they do this to let us know that we are missing something because of the ridiculous obscenity laws, neither do I think that what they have blotted out contains anything illegal, but that I can't know for sure of course. What I'm quite sure of however is that they want to earn money twice on one product and as scipio says that they have borrowed the gay sales tactics earlier commented upon on this board. By the way what did I think of the vid? I like rough fucking but this guy Zupko is just too weird. At least we have here a porn director with ideas of his own but they are more strange than good. |

I for one cant think of anyone else that makes,or has made a condom free tranny flick. Ritalin_Antichrist:" Contributing to the decay of the moral fabric of America since 1971" |
| Clubber Member 186 Posts 4/01 | If theres a directors cut, then thats the version the director wanted you to see but were unable to release it in the way it was intended to be seen. If the film contains cuts because some scenes are illegal then how can a directors cut get a release ?. Surely if both a normal cut & directors cut are available, then there's no reason to sell the nomal cut in the first place. |
| BIGmike B-I-G-m-i-k-e 2335 Posts 3/01 | They probably figure that if they sell it direct, unedited from their warehouse, than they eliminate the middle man, who could get arrested for selling "obscene" materials. So in order to protect the distributors and/or retailers, they release edited forms of the movie. because... ---I'd rather be anywhere but here, but I’m here and not anywhere--- |

| Bill All-Star Member 5334 Posts 6/00 | Because of this, the movie companies release versions that are acceptable nationwide. There are many companies that produce a "European" version of their films that contain things that could be considered objectionable in the U.S. However, these other companies are just not as reckless as the owners of Extreme are. The people at Extreme Associates have a "professional wrestling fan" mentality, that they are invincible. You can bet your bottom dollar that you will soon hear about someone attempting to procecute Extreme for one of these "Director's Cuts" that have been purchased through the mail. |

| Hardz Member Hell on Earth 877 Posts 6/01 | (Perhaps you should send them an e-mail copy of this thread) I've seen 'COCKTAILS TOO' on dvd and have noticed they have a 'directors cut' on VHS. Why not release the directors cut on dvd and sell it through their web site ? |
