This has been happening to me recently. It's consistent in that it's repeatable every time I find an example, but it doesn't happen everywhere.
Let's say I pick a forum and I get that table that lists the Topics, Author, Replies, Read and Last Post columns. On the Topic column it has the name of the thread and if there are multiple pages, there are links for each page. Example:
ADT Movie Database Errors Pages: 1 2 3 4 5
If I click on the last page (in this example, 5), I sometime get a "Page can't be displayed" error in my browser. If I choose 4, it comes up okay.
This is repeatable for that thead--every time I hit 5, it'll give me that error. But if I chose another thread with multiple pages (e.g. "He's dead, Jim" Pages: 1 2 3 ), clicking on 3 may work fine.
I suspect that the problem is (using the first example) that there's a message count error and there's really no 5th page. If I came back later when there are more replies, there would be enough message to indeed populate a 5th page and the link works.
Anyone else noticing this or is it just me?

Okay, I'm going to do an experiment. It just happened on the [url=https://forum.adultdvdtalk.com/the-today-i-learned-thread-til/6]Today I Learned topic, Page 6. When I click 6 I get a File Not Found error.
Page 5 displays correctly. When I look at it, top right corner, it also has page links: Page 5 of 5 First < 2 3 4
There are 40 replies on this page (5)
I just posted a reply. It's at the bottom of page 5.
I went back to the forum list and reloaded the page. Still 6 pages for the thread title. Click on the 6... File Not Found.
Damn. I was hoping it was just a counter-threshhold thing (i.e. five full pages of messages and the next reply would push it to six, but nope...)

This topic has already been discussed in at least a couple of Tech Talk threads. The suggested "solution" is to not click on the page number. Instead, click on the thread topic name, which seems to reliably take you to the last post in the thread, even if the page numbers are behaving strangely. Drew has not weighed in on the matter, AFAIK.

Sorry, didn't see it. Thanks.
So the solution is, doctor it hurts when I do this. Well, don't do that.

Where are you seeing a link to get to a page 6?
The paging on the thread clearly indicates Page 5 of 5. That tells me there's 5 pages in the topic.

OK, figured it out. Changed the database query to count the number of replies real-time instead of using the value stored in the database.

Thank ye! That was a feature I used a lot, so having it work is much appreciated.

I never figured out why the number of replies counter in the database was out of whack. I always assumed it had to do with deleted replies not decrementing the counter. Now it shouldn't matter.
