- before porn, you had to spend lots on money in the brothel/night club - with the advent of porn, you paid a decent amount to watch "adult entertainment" at sex cinemas - advent of home video: you had to spend an insane amount on overpriced tapes where if you were lucky one scene was ok-ish - with rental it was definitely cheaper, but the above problem still applies
post-90ies: - advent of subscription sites: now what you used to spend on one tape to own or 5 tapes to rent, now you spend on one month's subscription to a site with thousands of videos - advent of OF & similar: pay ludicrous amounts to see a 20 seconds clip of your girl

^ A 30 minute b/g scene should cost no more than $30, and that's at the high end of the spectrum. The prices that Paige is talking about would mean that only rich elitists would be able to afford porn. Her argument is that porn is inherently a luxury, so people should pay a lot for it and that free/cheap porn means that newer/smaller content creators can't compete with bigger content creators because the market price is so low. I'm not sure how charging an insane amount would fix that.
^ My take on this: rich elitists can spend thousands of dollars on high class hookers all day long, but leave affordable porn to the masses.
