I'm just curious...other than some actresses in the industry who have invariably said, "My parents (mother, father)are aware of what I do and they are OK with it." or some variation of that, I have never seen anything where a parent of a pornstar was actually interviewed and commented on their daughter's choice of career. Even better would be if one of them had actually viewed one or more of her films. I've run a search on all of the forums on this one without success.
Obviously you don't listen to Howard Stern. He has had at least 3 porn starlets on there who have brought their parents or guardians and in one case has had him participate in whatever perverse thing that the porns tar has going on. Mary Cary has brought her mother in twice, but Mary claims that she is mentally retarded. Also is was a porn star who brought her step dad in who also happens to be her manager and he gave her a bikini wax on camera. He also claims that he oils her up for her various sex scenes. Sal and Richard go to the AVN awards and goof on many of the porn stars both male and female. One of the porn stars had both her mother and father there to support her, she also was on the show at some point. So in short, I tend to believe the porn stars when they say that they have their family's support.
There are a lot of social taboos against sexual arousal and sexual attraction between close relatives. And for this reason most people don't feel comfortable talking about or witnessing the sexual activity of their close relatives. Porn is designed to arouse and excite people's sexual feelings. And having close relatives of a porn star get aroused like that would violate strong social taboos against such arousal. That's why for the most part, close relatives of porn stars try not to be aware too much of all the hot stuff that's going on in their daughter's or son's life.
I've heard about Julia Bond telling her mother about her profession on The Jerry Springer Show. I haven't seen it and I can't find the clip on YouTube at all. I am interested in seeing that. If you watched "Family Business" with Seymore Butts, they were a pretty functional family although many of them worked in porn. Seymore was ( and is still dating porn star Mari Possa) Seymore got his Uncle Stevie (who is married and in his 60's) into the biz and now Stevie shoots his own series. Seymore's Mom often discusses the biz with the family at the dinner table. Sunny Lane is the most visible example because her mom and dad work for her, booking her appointments, taking care of her paperwork, tracking her e-mail and even attending conventions and shoots with her. Supporting the choices your children make is part of parenting. The real disappointment here would be if the child didn't have a choice. But, there's a big difference between supporting your child's choices and crossing the line and even then documenting it on film. No pun intended, but that can become a slippery slope. Children deserve more from a parent.
I'm pretty sure that one of the major news networks spoke with Belladonna's Mom about her daughter's new career. I'm guessing ABC or NBC and that story on the porn industry would have aired about 10 years ago.
^It's one thing for parents to accept the fact that their daughter has chosen a career in porn but another to help manage it. It's very creepy and discusting to realise that her parents are scheduling their daughter for a few nice shoots and help her make her mind about doing anal, blowbangs and so forth on screen.
I watch a documentary about the adult industry called A Journey through Porn. There was a newer girl (did not look familiar) and she was interviewed along with her parents in her parents' home. They were very matter-of-fact about it. Although the dad seemed a little uncomfortable discussing it. Something about parents being too comfortable with it is disturbing.
I'll go one more and say that seeing any parent moderally Okay with their daughter doing porn slightly disturbing. It's one thing to accept the reality but another to appear to be alright with it.
I don't have any kids, but I don't think I would be comfortable with my mother (who is way too old anyway) or my sister being in porn. Hypocritical, I know, but that is just the way I feel. I once saw a cable TV documentary on porn in which Jesse Jane was interviewed. There was footage of her talking on the telephone to her mother about her porn career, even telling her mother the details about an upcoming scene she was preparing to shoot. The mother sounded OK about the whole thing. I thought the whole thing was weird. Even if your mother knows that you're a pornstar and has decided to accept it (likely because she realizes that she has no other choice), I would imagine that she probably still wouldn't want to be reminded that her daughter earns a living by doing porn. It just seemed weird that she would call her mother up to talk to her about it. But along with being weird, it can also be funny. I believe Jenna Jameson brought her dad to the AVN awards one year (back in the day). There was a whole show on her on VH1. And the dad was interviewed and not only did he acept her daughter's career choice, but seemed rather proud of her that she was #1 in what she chose to do.
