Hey everyone!

Today I got myself a free credit card - I really found a bank which gives out credit cards to university students without a real income for free! Very nice ;-) So, when my card arrives I HAVE to try it out and then I can order at every shop I want...

So, since it is pretty long ago since the last thread regarding german customs - are there any new experiences?

All people from Germany who found a shop with a good range of titles and which pass the german customs without any problems - please tell me your newest experiences.

Thanxxx already,

Any shop that offers shipping without boxes like Fivestar, AdultDVDNow or AdultDVDToday will do. But this isn't 100% safe in all cases. I heard that they oppened some small packages also.

OK, thanxx. Regarding fivestardvd.com - the correct shipping option for Germany would be Global Priority Letter then, I guess?

Hi maniac,

I can suggest you try AdultDVDToday.com. They are very fast, very reliable, very friendly and their prices are excellent. They have discount coupons and they pay Kickback rebates.

I have ordered ten times from them in the past three month for a total of more then 1200 USD. The shipment arrives within one week usually. Shipping is very discreet (important for customs in Germany). The shipping charges are low (5 USD for up to 5 DVDs or 10 USD for up to 10 DVDs). With the use of their coupons you actually do not pay the shipment at all and still get a discount on the total. In addition you get 5% of Kickback credits if you buy through AdultDVDTalk.

I have also ordered through Lasersedge but the shipment was intercepted by customs two times. I guess the reason is the packaging.

I ordered from FivStarDVD only once with FedEx shipment which is very fast and reliable but expensive as they will charge import taxes on the value specified by the shipper.

Trust me, AdultDVDToday.com is best!

You should also check out DVDDiscount.tv based in the Netherlands which has only a limited selection but has RLD and GGG for good prices with good a quick shipping and no risk whatsoever for custom problems due to shipment from the EU.

Greetings and have fun with your credit card.

Big thx for your post, brasilfan. I will have fun with it for sure - can't wait for it to arrive *hehe*

I will stick to AdultDVDToday as my second choice ;-) Their prices are very nice - but they are comparable with fivestar. But I have to admit I haven't tried the coupon thing so far. The only thing I didn't like at AdultDVDToday is, that their product range isn't really that big. It's ok, but especially when it comes to smaller labels there are some deficites.

And regarding fivestardvd.com - they don't offer that FedEx option anymore. they now offer this one, which sounds pretty good, in my opinion:

---

Global Priority Letter
6-10 days
$5.00 Per Order
$1.50 Each Item
Priority Envelope

Available for all-DVD orders only. Not available for orders containing DVD Box Sets, Toys, or VHS.

Artwork and DVDs are shipped in a Priority Envelope.

DVD cases are not shipped.

---

But I would like to know if anyone tried this before for Germany. So any experiences with FiveStar's new shipping option?

Oh, and something I forgot - when ordering DVD's without boxes, so when they're shipped in a thin envelope only - does the package still have a customs sticker on the outside?

I mean, is it possible that I still have to pay any import taxes - or is the package treated like a normal letter then?

maniac,

the envelope will still carry a customs declaration. The actual declaration of the content and the value may vary from company to company. I believe that this makes the difference really. The shipper's address on the envelope is also important. I believe that Lasersedge is somehow on the radar of the German customs. This is why their shipment has been intercepted twice, I believe. If the online shop puts the correct value on the customs declaration you will surely end up paying the import tax and might not get the shipment at all because it is porn. AdultDVDToday handles this quite nicely. They use the same shipping method as FiveStarDVD though so your choice may actually be OK. However, FiveStar charges more as you have to pay for each item which is not the case for AdultDVDToday. I wish you luck and please report about your experience. Nothing is more frustrating than having a package stolen by customs so they can wank happily during their coffee breaks!

Well, there is something even more frustrating: If the company where you ordered the DVD does not react at all after you sent them a mail, that the order got confiscated (hello excaliburfilms.com!) ;-)

But when the order still has the customs sticker... I'm wondering why they don't check it at customs? Because the people there are that stupid and think "oh, it's a thin envelope only, this can't contain porn"?? *lol*

Anywayz, when I ordered at one of those 2 companies (and AdultDVDNow could also be worth a try) I will post my experiences in here for sure.

You may also want to consider companies based in Europe or who place their orders into the European mail system, so that your orders are sent from within the EU. Unfortunately I can't recall which of the US-based mail order companies send their orders from within the EU, but I'm sure someone else here could help there...

cheers,

scipio

Aha, that could be where I come in...I think Marc from Laser's Edge said as much in a recent post, that their International Shipping deal goes from the States into the European mail system. But then, some of our German readers have had problems with Laser's Edge before, so maybe we're back to square one...

Another possibility is to try www.orgazmik.com
They are located in Switzerland and maybe the German-Custom does not pay so many attention for mail from this country (Although it's not in the EU)
Ordered Two Times from them, both Shipments arrived safe and fast.
They have a good stock, but the disadvantages are, that they are more expensive than an US Company and They have not much of the very new releases, you have to wait a few weeks.

By The way: In an Further Thread www.adultdvdnow.com got also possitve critics, i think about ordering from them. Has anybody from Germany new informations?

We have a warehouse in Austria from where we dispatch all EU orders. They do not pass customs.

You can order from companies that use courier service, but be aware that all those shipments have to pass customs and you will have to pay high customs duties addtional to the courier service fees. Sometimes you will get a bill from the courier service several month later.
You can also order from adultdvdnow.

Going on from Lightriders post ( and bear in mind I'm living in the UK not Germany ) I've used two courier services from 2 different sites , and with very different results . A FedEx package from Fivestar was charged extra to get through customs and a letter demanding the extra money came a month later in the post . But , I think this was largely because Fivestar write the full value of the goods on the outside of the parcel . A DHL package ( again courier ) from Lasersedge did not incur any extra or hidden cost . Lasersedge were generously low in their estimate for the total cost of goods . Basically , if customs in the UK see a price over a certain amount they will charge a percentage of the total for processing that parcel . Under the price ? No charge .

Is it a similar system in Germany ?

Yep, exactly the same system over here in Germany! I can't remember exactly what that amount is, I think it's something like 'everything under 25 Euro is free of additional charges' - if anyone knows that precisely, please feel free to post it in here ;-)

Order anywhere from inside the EU and you should have no problem with German customs.

If you order from the States or outside the EU, it's more of a risk. BUT if you can, ask your seller to tick the "gift" box on the green customs slip. That way, customs are much more likely to let it pass unopened, whereas if the "merchandise" or "sample" box is ticked, it is likely to be opened.

Fivestar is not shipping to germany with Fedex anymore cause Fedex had some problems with the german customs due to the adult status of the orders! So it's no longer recommended to use courier services when ordering from germany!

Something that is still on my mind - I heard that some companies print the full amount of the package on the customs sticker (DVD + shipping costs) and some only print the price of the actual content (DVD price only, without shipping costs). If you have experiences, which online shop does what- please post it! Thx!

PS: I placed an order at cduniverse.com before(they also have an adult department), no adult stuff but that doesn't matter for this issue - and they, for example, only printed the price of the CD on the sticker, without shipping costs. Saved me a lot of money!

Very clever! But now with Mr. Blocher in the government, I'm sure you have to close it down, I already hear him say: "swiss porn only from swiss warehouses"

After reading this thread I will surely give adultdvdtoday a try. However there is a dvd mailorder based in Canada, which sends the DVDs from Belgique and France: www.adultdvdboxoffice.com

I've ordered about ten times from them now and one DVD got lost. (strange: I received the envelope - but there was included the delivery-note only, no DVD. On the envelope there was a stamp "checked by customs" or something like that.) They ship only one DVD in every enevlope. This makes big orders a bit difficult.
Their prices are very fair IMHO. Compared to the prices in German stores really cheap. The costs of shipping are included, and remember it's canadian dollars!

The only problem with the website is, the covers of the DVDs are much too small. You can't see anything. But that's not really a prob. ;-)

OK, now I finally did it - I made my first order with my new credit card... and I followed brasilfan's advice and ordered at AdultDVDToday.

And that was a damn good decision! I ordered on Thursday, the 8th of Juanuary, late in the evening! Order processing took one hour, and the order was shipped another 2 hours later. 3 hours from ordering to shipping is very fast imo!! So it was shipped Friday night at 3am (German time) - and it arrived today!! So, 8 days with a weekend in between is pretty nice - especially with damn slow "Deutsche Post"

The DVD's are free of any scratches or other damages, the covers are folded very nice - you don't see that they were folded if you put them into a DVD case! And btw - as some people say they don't like it when DVD's are shipped without cases... Well, I bought some cases for something like 40 Euro Cent for one case - and now I have Original Amaray cases for my precious porn DVD's, not those cheap ass crap cases most porn studios use

So, the only thing I can say - if you're from Germany and you want to order Adult DVD's from the US, give AdultDVDToday a try. They have a very nice style of packing which doesn't arise the attention of customs, they are fast, pretty cheap - and they have a very fast & friendly customer service aswell (tested it and Greg from ADToday answered very fast).

I will surely order from them again - PROPS to AdultDVDToday

Oh, and thanxxx to brasilfan for your help. Sorry if I was standing on your nerves a little bit, but I was really unsure, cause I had pretty bad experiences with other companies and confiscated orders before.

Glad to hear your order went so well, Maniac!

The thing to remember is that Adult DVD Today are in Hawaii, (I think 10 hours behind GMT) so you can order in the evening (in Western Europe) while they're at work in Hawaii, so you can have an in-stock order processed and shipped same day, with luck!

Where do you get Original Amaray Cases for 40 cents in Germany? I normally order from Protected.de for 50 cents, these cases are absolutely new. Have ordered from others, but they sell used looking cases very often with lots of scratches!

@DVD_Freak

Sorry, I was wrong - I bought them for 55 cent at musictools.de - not for 40 cent! Bought some other stuff there aswell, so I got mixed up a little with the prices

It's me again ;-)

I received an order again today - so I want to keep all fellow German Adult DVD Buyers up to date

This time I ordered 2 DVD's at adultdvdnow - my first order with them. Their product range maybe is not that great, but if you want to buy a certain DVD, perhaps from smaller labels even - always have a look if you can get it at adnow! You can find some real bargains there. 24.90$ for 2 DVD's incl. shipping is very very nice imo

Anyways, the order was placed on Thursday, 10.02.04 afternoon CET, when they were asleep. It got approved very fast and was shipped 3am at night CET (so already Wednesday, the 11th) - so everything was really fast!

Well, I received my order today - so it took 18 days excluding weekends, 24 days incl. weekends, which is pretty long. On the other hand - I chose the free shipping option, so it's worth the waiting But, I don't know why normal air mail always takes THAT long to Germany, it's not adultdvdnow's fault for sure, cause I had experiences like that with other (non adult) stuff from the US before.

The Packing: Unbelievable! You can't go wrong with adnow, when you live in Germany. Their packing is very very good, it even got me fooled - you don't realize that there are DVD's inside, customs declaration is also very nice. DVD's came in those paper sleeve, so they are free of scratches - and the covers are not folded at all.

So, I can definitely recommend adultdvdnow - and if you want to receive your goods faster, there are also some other shipping options which aren't too expensive either!

I have also tried adultdvdnow twice now - and I'm very satisfied! The packages are very customs friendly, the covers are in mint condition. And on top of that, I just got an envelope with four DVDs and there was a sticker "abgefertigt Zollamt Frankfurt" (something like "checked by Frankfurt customs") on it but the DVDs were still included! I take this as a very good sign and will stick to them (and adultdvdboxoffice from time to time).
