WOWZERS!

Ok, I was flipping channels and I stopped because I saw Randy Spears. I hadn't ordered any PPV, so I wondered why I was seeing a porn legend. I checked the channel, and it was HBO. I kept watching, and the people started having SEX! Edited sex, but porno sex nonetheless.

But here's the best part...THIS WAS A REAL MOVIE! A B-movie, but a real movie nonetheless, with coverage, ADR, AVID-level editing, continuity, a score and all that jazz. Definitely the level of any Lifetime afternoon special, or one of those Oxygen network older-woman-has-sex-with-young-stranger movies. Has anyone else seen this, and why is HBO showing it? Granted, it was 1am, but it was at the level of edited PPV porn I've seen. Wait...now that I think about it, I don't think I saw any cocks. Maybe that's the line.

Has anyone else seen this one?

I have a Dish dish, and the programming package I get includes six or so sub-HBO, sub-Showtime movie channels. At unpredictable intervals, and without any fanfare that I've ever noticed, one of these kinds of movies will show up on one of the channels. There was just one on the other night that had Ava Vincent and Tina Tyler.

Most of the ones I've seen have had the same look (lighting and camera angles which are *much* more body-flattering than in hardcore; usually more natural-looking female performers), and they're basically hard-R -- lots of T&A, but no dicks, only fleeting glimpses at cooches.

Before the mrskin.com site was changed to prevent non-members from reading the full reviews, I was able to look up a few of these films. Apparently there is one director (maybe producer?) who is responsible for cranking a lot of these things out.

Somehow I know I'm going to be sorry I asked, but what do you mean by AVID-level editing? (Yes, I know what an AVID is. I had one but sold it because it wouldn't fit in my TiBook.)

I mean professional-level. I prefer Smoke, but AVID is the mainstream standard. This wasn't a Spielberg movie, but both could have used the same editing system.

I suppose that begs the question: what sort of work do you do that you've got a preference? (I prefer editing at the beach and leaving the nasty onlining to someone else!)
