I guess its been it for about a month now, I didn't even realize it since I am not a huge vivid fan. Now the question is, I thought Manuel was exclusive for EA, how was he able to direct this for VIVID or does his contract state he can film Just features for other companies? [Link]

Vivid meets Redlight, was the concept and this was the last thing manuel did for Redlight. briana called me up after the shot and said she literally worked her ass off on this one. The movie is awesome, very hardcore. It doesn't really matter when it was shot, it was never released. The footage is excellent. Real mainstream movies are also released years after they come are shot, it doesn't make them any less of a movie. Maybe you weren't knocking the fact it was shot in 2006, but I hear that from time to time. It's not milk, it doesn't spoil, it's the beauty of film. Citizen Cain was shot 50 years ago, it is still excellent. [Link]

Click to expand LOL, never expected to read about "Citizen Kane" in a porn feature thread. But since you mentioned it, principal shooting on "Citizen Kane" was finished at the end of October 1940. The film was ready for release in February 1941 but the controversy surrounding the film delayed its opening until May 1941. Did the post production on "Perfect Match" take so much longer than the post production on "Citizen Kane"? Or was there any controversy surrounding "Perfect Match" that delayed it? When I saw her name as part of the cast, for a brief moment I thought she had made a comeback, then I realized the film was shot two years ago. Though the focus of this film is on Brianna Banks, Tiffany Rayne is the one who shines here (IMHO). I actually thought Briana was just an average looking girl in this one, seeing her here reaffirmed to me why girls should not get implants. [Link]

I understand that something that is done should be released asasp, but sometimes it isn't possible. I don't understand what the turn-off is that something that has never been released, shot in 2004, or 5 or 6, makes it all of the sudden no good. If it's good, it's good. Why is this integral to the marketing strategy of the studios that have contract girls? But back to your question, let me venture a guess. I think that part of the fantasy for us consumers is the belief (myth?) that the performances we see on the small screen is the embodiment of the person performing them. To have the knowledge that the former star is now selling two-bedroom condos in Modesto or schlepping two rug rats from soccer practice to piano lessons detracts from the fantasy--that's not hot. Even worse is seeing a former starlet who looks like she just got liberated from a concentration camp, crisis + tragedy=flaccid penis. A lot of the girls are still in the business, I don't think a lot of movies come out so late that the stars have become soccer moms, and have entered retirement. The studios try and get them out asap. I mean Vivid isn't releasing Kobe Tai movies. So let's say the stars of the movie are still working, but the movie was shot in 2006, why is that a turn off? If the movie is good, the scenes are hot, the star is still working, why do people look at the prod date of 2006 and say I don't want it? This happens a lot. [Link]

In fact of the two stars whose scenes I watch obsessively one has been retired for 3 years and the other according all gossip/reports has one foot out the door. So I do enjoy out-of-date product. But if I may make an additional comment on the importance of production dates. For many of us (straight male porn viewers) porn is a compensatory fantasy. A large part of that fantasy is the availability of sex objects and acts that are unobtainable to us in our everyday lives. The production date is one piece of information that we use to access whether or not a particular star is still 'available' to us. An out-of-date movie negates part of that fantasy, proving once again that the unobtainable is indeed, unobtainable. There is a tendency with big time fans to take it one step further. From the fans perspective a hiatus or retirement feels like a rejection or breakup. Go read a few threads in Star Crossed they are overwhelming about this availability/rejection dialectic. [Link]

You are hitting the nail on the head when you say it is a fantasy, that is the business we are in, providing a vehicle to live your fantasy. To understand the whole phenomenon look at Hollywood's Golden Age. Studios did't only shoot movies with their contract stars but they created an image for their whole life that was fitting the image on the screen. Gay leading men were presented to the public with the latest female addition to the studio roster. Unmarried female stars were forced to abort. All this was done because people want to dream about their stars way beyond the screen. You can apply this to the adult contract stars of today. People don't just watch a porn flick. They live and grow older with their stars. If the film was produced in 2006 its an old movie because it doesn't show the star of today. [Link]

Many starlets are at periods in their lives where they're still undergoing some extensive body changes (like weight, or by artificial enhancements), and as a result the Briana Banks of 2004, to me, looks different than the Briana Banks of 2006 or perhaps of 2008. Another example is that the lela star of 2007 looks different than the lela star of today (which isn't to say that she's less hot now). The point is, when I'm watching these starlets, part of the voyeuristic fantasy to me at least, is to see them closer to how they ARE now and the longer the period of time between these production and release, the more time for these changes to occur. So that's one thing that I hope Vivid could change, especially with these emerging internet companies, that can have a scene up after production from a few weeks prior, and are now in competition for my dollar. (although it's not entirely fair to compare feature release times to internet gonzo release times, but it is what it is). All that being said, I STILL found this movie to be incredibly hot. [Link]
