I thought it was great, but near the end of the show they discussed Ashley Madison/cheating/open relationships, and she explained her perspective on the difference between a porn performer and a guy having 'just sex'. She sees a distinction between her job as a performer having sex and a guy going outside their relationship to have 'just sex'. I'm not seeing the distinction. I understand having a committed relationship and intimate connection and even the various flavors of poly, but it seems like she's having 'just sex' as a porn performer and he's having 'just sex' as entertainment. In her case she gets paid and in his case he's getting entertained. What's the difference? If he's doing it and not telling her or if she's doing porn and not telling him, I see that issue, but as long as they tell each other is there a distinction to be make here? [Link]

Let me suggest to you that a porn performer does not have 'just sex' when there is a camera in her face and a director telling her what to do and when to do it. That is to say, her actions are not directed toward pleasing her partner, nor are they directed towards her own sexual pleasure. Rather, they are directed towards satisfying the director and getting paid. [Link]

Click to expand I'd say it this way. People often tend to think their behavior is an exception to their own rules. For instance, I know a married couple. The husband sees it as his place to control all the money and the wife basically goes along with it to keep the peace. The husband thinks it's fine if he wastes a lot of money but if the wife EVER wastes any money, he gets really upset. He can buy a motorcycle without even asking her what she thinks about it but she has to defend herself if she buys a pack of gum without clearing it with him. Click to expand My initial thoughts are the kissing issue is a tough argument to make. I seem to recall mainstream actor's spouses struggling with having their spouse perform in kissing scenes. If their spouse doesn't see the distinction, hard for me to buy it from you. I need to think about this more. [Link]

That they do not act upon this reaction and toss their spouses' clothes out into the street seems to me prima facia evidence that they do see the distinction. [Link]

She talks about her objections to 'Fuck A Fan' videos and how she got into porn to fuck hot guys and not have them call her the next day. She's clearly into her own personal sexual enjoyment when performing porn shoots. I'm sure she takes direction, but I didn't hear her talk about satisfying directors. This is a pleasure job for her, not a do what I get asked to do (including fuck a fan) for her. She has a clear list of what she does and doesn't do. This is all about just sex. [Link]
