Hey, how's it going,

If you've seen porn you have probably come across this at some point. It's that annoying instant when the girl or even guy is just clearly forcing some annoying dirty talk.

I was watching Missy Monroe's scene with Tony Tedeschi and two other guys in "Breakin' Em In #6." With the sound down low, it was a really hot scene, as Missy takes to anal and DP with amazing ease. However, when I turned the volume up I realized just how annoying the dirty talk in the scene was. Tony is constantly telling her that she is a "nasty little slut" and that she loves "his fat cock." And Missy essentially narrarates the scene for us, as she feels obligated to tell us which cock(s) is in which chole. "Oh, yeah. You like that COCK in MY ASS." The almost comical thing is that the majority of the time Missy actually pauses as if she is trying to remember where the cock actually is. "Oh, yeah. You like that cock in my...uh...ass." Sadly, at several times all 4 people in the scene are talking. It is the strangest thing. Missy is saying something. Tony Tedeschi is saying something stupid. John Strong is saying something and so is the other guy. I've never seen it before in non-orgy porn.

Now, Missy is an AdultDVDTalk member so I don't want to be too negative about her. She is usually a great, nasty performer. And sexually this is a good scene. However, I have never seen her dirty talk so much.

My question is: where is this coming from? I have been watching gonzo porn since basically '99 or '00, due to a certain Ms. St. Claire. However, as of late I am seeing far more forced dirty talk than I ever remember seeing. Girls who have also fallen prey to this include Katin, Tyla Wynn, and Alex Devine. Is this a product of bad direction or are some of these girls just freely going so over the top?

In a tape like Lethal Hardcore's "Cherry Busting", it is pretty obvious that the dirty talk was due to direction. Each girl, from beginning to end, essentially narrate the scene: "Oh, yeah...you going to bust that cherry? I love having my cherry busted. Bust my anal cherry." We know the fucking title. Okay. Cut it out. However, sometimes it just seems that it is how the girl is choosing to perform.

We very often refer to girls as being "good performers." But, really, the best performers are the girls who ignore the camera and just fuck. Those girls who just constantly look at the camera and spew stupid dirty talk come off as so fake (to me). It is hard to argue intentionality in this case. Maybe some of this dirty talk is genuine. But it is my absolute pet peeve. It kills scenes for me, no matter the girl. Luckily, most of my favorite girls like TSC, Jennifer Luv, Haley, Avy Scott, and others don't do it.

Understand that I am not saying I hate any kind of dirty talk in porn. I am just saying that when it sounds forced it kills scenes for me.

Kelly

PS...Incidentally, it does not help that sometimes girls who are as vocal as all get out in scenes will be exposed by their actions in the behind the scenes. I have seen girls getting fucked in the BTS on DVDs and looking bored out of their mind far too often. The most recent ones were Katin in "Teen Little Piggies 3" and Satvia in "Young Ripe Melons 5." It reminds me of Anna Karina in Vivre Sa Vie (1962).

Kelly,

I have noticed that I agree with a great majority of your comments/preferences and always enjoy reading your post.

However, I liked the scene in Breakin' Em In with Missy and the Cherry Bustin' DVD. I like hearing the girl say the word "fuck" and there was a lot of this in Cherry Bustin. I also enjoy Sabrine Maui because of this as well.

My pet peeve is when the scene is suppose to contain a lot of dirty talking and girl never gets a chance to talk. Gutter Mouth series from JM Production is a good example. The girl can never talk because one of the guys is always jamming his cock in her mouth.

Dirty talking from the male is always a turn-off for me.

I'm with you on this Kelly. It's a sure sign of detachment from the scene. Constantly looking into the camera also bothers me.

Lindi,

Your remark about Christopher Walken and his SNL character from "The Continental" was hilarious. Make me want to go out and rent this Raincoater's POV right now, just for its comic possibilities.

Odd. The title you've singled out, "Raincoater's POV 3", is directed by Vince Vouyer. One of the two titles I singled out, "Breakin' Em In 6", was directed by Vince Vouyer.

I guess that speaks to the part of my post where I was asking if this type of thing was merely a product of shoddy directing. Incidentally, the Missy Monroe scene is not the only one from "Breakin'" that suffers from bad dirty talk. Delilah Strong and Yasmene are no strangers to it. "Yeah..stick that dick up my Puerto Rican ass." "Yeah, shoot that cum in her mouth"..WHy do they always start their sentences with "yeah" in these situations? On the other hand, Paige and Randi Wright seem very genuine and don't offer any stupid crap. And I have yet to watch Patricia's scene.

It is not uncommon for directors to give verbal direction as a scene is being played. It is also very easy to "loose" the director's voice:

1) At the end of the scene, tell everyone to shut the fuck up.

2) Record 30 seconds of room tone. Room tone is the sound of the room with nothing making noise.

3) In post, drop the audio level to 0 from the begining of the director's comment to the end.

4) In a separate audio track cover the drop with some of the room tone you recorded

5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 as needed.

I was watching SPECS APPEAL 2 . In about the 4th scene a dark haired women with an Eastern European accent was getting drilled in her ass. In the middle of it she got an errant thrust which obviously hurt quite a bit, and she tucked her tail under to avoid another blow. Her scene partner stopped fucking her momentarily.

Then from off camera I heard a voice hiss. "Stay with it!" She didn't quite dismount his cock. Then "Sell it!" obviously still in some pain she arched her back as if the errant thrust had sent her into some new world of unparralleled anal delight.

Now never mind that the whole sad mishap should have been cut, why in the world was the director's voice left in? This wasn't some gonzo "hey mister cameraman" video, just a wall to wall vignette video with the female talent addressing the audience directly at the begining of each scene. Where'd this hissing asshole come from? Who is he, and what's he doing whispering things from off camera?

Hey, how's it going,

What TonyC said was real interesting to me.

I was thinking of it just now when I was looking through a scene from "Fast Times at Deep Crack High 1" (2000). I am watching the Taylor St. Claire-Catalina-TT Boy scene with the sound up real high for the first time. I can hear Stoney whispering instructions at first. He tells the girls "I can't hear you" as well instructs TT on what he wants him to do. Cat and Taylor are both in standing doggy and Stoney tells TT to go from Cat to Taylor at one point. However, then the background music picks up and you really can't hear Stoney saying anything for the rest of the scene.

Is this the true reason why background music exists in porn then? To drown out unwanted noise?

Hi Kelly,

Let me give you my opinion as a performer.
I do not like too when i watch a scene and the girl/the guys are always talking, saying the same things four or five times, or saying some stupid stuff.

The main problem is that most of the directors ask us to do it. They are like "talk, come on, keep talking..." What do you want me to say every 10 seconds when i get fucked???

I had a lot of problems with that when i started, i didn t know what to say.
But now i m ok with it. Sometimes it s really nasty, when it really comes from the girl. But i hate hearing a girl saying things with no conviction.

Jewel is one of the undisputed queens of erotic articulation. Once you hear her in Perversions you will have a good idea how much it adds to the scene. A scene is killed by 'airhead' babble and also Sineplex, as good as their filming is, has terrible music.

Hey, how's it going,

Remember how I said that I was just lucky that my favorite girl of all time, Taylor St. Claire, never really gave in to forced dirty talk?

I was wrong. I went back and watched some of her scenes with the volume turned up louder than normal. Guess what? In her videos directed by Vince Vouyer, she does a litte bit of that forced dirty talk. In videos not directed by him, not so much to not at all. She is so hot and sexy that it sounds very natural, but compared to the fact that she rarely said, "Fuck my ass!" or "Yeah, I'm a dirty whore!" in her other scenes I am guessing that this was a product of archaic direction. The girl was nominated for AVN Female Performer of the Year for 2 years in a row you know. She knew how to turn it on in front of the camera so she makes the lines being fed to her sound natural but most girls can't do that.

Melissa-

Thank you for your response. It has been said that the best directors are ones that make porn that they themselves would want to see. If David Luger and Vince Vouyer and Stoney Curtis and the other guys that do this really truly like forced dirty talk in their porn then great for them. If not, it shows a complete complacency in their work and dates their directing style greatly. Natural is ALWAYS better. If a girl does not naturally dirty talk then don't do it.

To again clarify, the issue is not dirty talk. I fucking love it. It's like this. Porn is fantasy. However, we like to pretend that we are merely watching cinema verite. All those moans are real and those orgasms are real. Having the girl play and look directly into the camera while reading off dirty talk so stupid that it might as well have been read off cue cards kills that fantasy. We are made aware of the manipulation at hand and it does not feel good.

Kelly

Ps..After noticing this pattern of forced dirty talk in Vince Vouyer tapes, I took him off my list of Favorite Directors that is listed in all of my ADT reviews in the "About the Author" section. Replaced him with Jonni Darkko and John Stagliano.

This I HATE. When it's forced it could totally ruin a scene.

I think the best at dirty talk was Johnny Black. She was a mean one.

Jonni Black! Wow. That's a name I hadn't thought about it a long, long time. You're right. She had a real nasty streak when it came to dirty talk.

I can relate to your dislike for forced dirty talk, but then again it depends on the film. If the film is a real hardcore film with rough sex then dirty talk should be expected and if the girl isn't into that then your going to get the forced annoying shit. I like things to flow rather nicely and I know that porn isn't really how sex is but still there should be some rythem and enjoyment being shown. I do like to hear the women talk but not very much, and I really hate hearing men whimper and yell over the woman. And what Tony was saying about some A-hole yelling from the set, I have heard that many times. Though it is usually in smaller studio's stuff but none the less it is really annoying.
