Some of his best early anal scenes were done with low-quality cameras and poor camera work. I'm glad to see he started using better cameras, but many times the camera work leaves much to be desired.
^What you call low quality cameras. I call the best camera available at the time. I mean Pierre has been doing this for over 3 decades and I don't think I need to tell you that past cameras do not compare well to newer models.
I don't think his camera work has ever been considered to be poor. The fact that many of his videos are one-on-one POV style greatly limits the possible shots he can have in them and while I think he is one of the better filmmakers who does POV style porn. I often wish that there was another person shooting the action so that we can have more variety of shots but somehow these wouldn't feel like Pierre Woodman videos and therefore I'm happy with what Pierre does.
I don't agree as far as the camera quality. Many porn movies that were made in the 1980s have better film quality than Woodman's early videos. It's not just camera quality but also the quality of film being used. Some vintage porn movies have "digital" quality that rivals modern HD videos because they were filmed with super high quality film.
^Are you referring to movies still shot on 35mm film because obviously those would be superior to movies shot on earlier video cameras but if they were shot on the available VHS/Beta camera of the time then it's another story. If you are a fan of 80's porn like myself then you know that video quality is usually the last thing you look for because even those great 35mm films can mostly be found on their VHS/Beta digitized version and 480p is the highest video quality you can hope for so unless it's a copy done from the original 35mm master then it's not going to look great.
I was the first to shoot porn DV in Europe, the first to shot porn in HD and the first to shoot 4 K in Europe. I was thinking to buy the new Blackmagic 12 K last month but it's not a camera I can do my actual type of work with. When I was working for big production in the 90's I was using always the best BETACAM Camera but of course later I started use DV and then HD more simple quality ones because anyway it was not neccessary for more at this period. Since 2014 I delivery content in 4K at 20 to 30 Mb/s and I think it's enough for my site.
