The PlayStation 2 is very finiky. It will play some discs fine, but not others. The difference in the driver also makes a difference on what discs play. I personally wouldn't recommend a PS2 as a DVD player. It's a great game system, but for DVD's I'd recommend that you buy a stand alone. Back when I was having troubles with some Wicked discs, David Crawford sent me the URL of a place that lists the different driver versions and discs that wouldn't play (mainstream) with the various drivers. I, unfortunately, don't have the URL anymore.

Sadly the PS2 is all I have for a DVD player (besides the computer but that is in the family room =) so I'm gonna stick with it. But thanks for the response and if you could find that URL that would be great!!
For porn DVDs I would rate the PS2 very poor. A friend of mine only got about half or so of any adult DVD he either rented or bought, to work in the PS2. Mainstream it was much much better, but for porn, your IMO definately taking a risk whether it will play or play properly in your PS2.
Still wanking after all these years. 8082 Posts 10/00

Depends where you buy it. If you got a US PS2 it probably plays all NTSC DVDs fine. Got an Australian one (PAL) and it plays my PAL DVDs fine (it's not my primary player though) but has trouble with NTSC ones.
Besides The PC I can also use the playstation 2 as a DVD player. I have no problems with Adult DVDs as most of the ones I have bought are region 0 meaning that no region applies. you can get a region bypasser called DVD RegionX but I never found that to be necessary. If the images show up green, then you can go to the configuration menu and change the viewing mode. The Silver playstation 2 has an upgraded DVD driver. Some DVDs will play reliably and some DVDs will skip.
You can put a password control on your Playstation 2 which makes it recognise adult rated games or DVDs and lock access.
Accessing menus and controlling the speed is limited, the options you get are much reduced compared to Other possible DVD players.
Overall it was quite usable but frustrating sometimes.
Double layer dvds tend to skip from one layer to the next. might be why.

I use my silver PS2 with a remote control to watch porn all the time and it works with no problems. The Black PS2's are irritatingly noisy. The only quarm I have is that there no Power Off but on the remote so when you've finshed wanking. You have to regain some energy to walk back to the Ps2 unit.
