I'm going to admit, I don't know everything . I've realized that men plug womens noses during oral sex in porn nowadays, and I've never really questioned why. Is it done to somehow get the girl to go deeper? Is this usually the case? Or is it done simply to asphyxiate the girl sort of like choking? Or is it a combination of the two? If it's to achieve deeper oral, how and why is it that plugging a girls nose helps it along? Does it quell the girls gag reflex? I want a scientific explanation!
As Pagoda indicates, usually it's a mildly amusing (and sometimes disturbing) technique that's all about pushing the girl's limit of how long she can have both her mouth and nose blocked before "tapping out" or giving some other similar signal that she's had enough and need to take another breath. Sort of a "how long can we get the chick to hold her breath" thing. Usually, the girl puts up with it, and sometimes (albeit rarely), even seems to get into the game.
One very notable exception to girls allowing the nose-plugging action: Taryn Thomas in "Gangbang Auditions 19". During the opening blowbang, one of the guys goes to grab her nose and she stops the action and loudly says "DON'T plug my fuckin' nose", or something to that effect. I'll bet the guy was pretty stunned! Actually, I'm surprised they didn't cut it out.
Now for the really disturbing thing. In the same movie , the Roxy Jezel scene, one of the guys (don't know who) is into the whole choking thing. I assume this is all under the category of erotic asphyxia and is supposed to be hot, but personally, I wince whenever I see it. Well in this scene, at one point it appears that Roxy actually passes out and is literally FOAMING AT THE MOUTH. I thought I was watching a snuff film. Hideous. Eventually one of the guys has to slap her to bring her back to full consciousness. All of this takes place as she's getting DP'd, mind you, and the guys CONTINUE to fuck her as she's in this barely conscious state and white goo is oozing from her mouth. Now I know Roxy is a very submissive girl, and I've seen her do some pretty crazy stuff, but for me this is just beyond the pale. Way over the top. Roxy appears to pass out at least one other time during the scene. Regardless of whether or not she was actually enjoying herself (and for all I know, maybe she was), I felt genuinely afraid for her after seeing this.
This more extreme, dangerous stuff is exactly the kind of thing that could get a major studio in deep doo-doo with the Attorney General.
Ha ha! I am surprised they didn't cut that put as well. But I fucking hate that shit anyway. I don't find it a turn on at all or one bit sexy for that matter. Seriously I can't stand that... OK well I'm done with my rant now.

Kicking the nose-plugger in the balls would have been a good reality check for him.

Well like some says i supose its a way of making the girl kinda submissive...i saw that often, one exemple is in a movie with rocco and savanna samson, he ``teach`` her how to deep throat and then try to block her nose but she imediately put the cock out, looking like she don`t want that.
About the scene of roxy jezel, she could have do just like Taryn if she wanted, so maybe it was all acting...we don`t know.
I never saw that movie but i imagine the guy...he probably had difficulty getting hard again after that...
I assume that alot of women who are in the industry would not have the guts to do what you did and would just put up with it. It makes me want to watch the film just for that one scene :)
If porn companies are going to make porn with this sort of thing, they should keep it in DVDs that especially cater to this type of action.
I hate seeing this shit turn up in what appears to be middle of the road porn that I rent or buy.
I hardly ever see erotic blowjobs in porn these days, and it's a real shame. I have to look through older porn from the 1990s where the production quality is not as high but the blowjobs were better.
This post doesn't answer your question, but I'm hoping that some pornographers will read it.
Hmmm...here's what I don't quite understand. I would have assumed (not knowing much about what actually goes on behind the scenes) that when they hire the girls and arrange the scene, they would work out the boundaries and so forth. Would make sense to me that she'd want to know what to expect and that they'd want to know if she was willing to do what they wanted her to do. From reading this thread, I now have to assume that this isn't done in some fashion?
And I would tend to agree with your first statement. A lot of irritation could be avoided if they just kept it confined to flicks that cater to that fetish (or whatever you wanna call it). Obviously, a girl wouldn't sign on to do a scene in a flick called "Nose pluggers" and then be surprised to have her nose plugged.
On a related note, however, I have to say that it seems a little strange that people rent or buy flicks called "Throat Gaggers" and then complain about the content. What did they think they were gonna see? I do my very best to avoid flicks with names that describe things I don't like, find offensive or that turn me off. I wouldn't buy a flick called "Hairy Pussies Galore" and then complain that all the girls had hairy pussies.
I understand that you meant that you don't like it when this stuff turns up in more mainstream porn flicks and I guess I would have to agree there.
I guess my bottom line here would be that there are a lot of men (and women) who enjoy this sort of thing. They just need to find actresses who enjoy it, make sure they're OK with doing it before they start filming and decide to plug their nose - and maybe have a disclaimer on the DVD stating that "No people were actually suffocated to death during the making of this DVD and all models consented to all activities contained on this DVD".
That's what decent and responsible directors, porn studs, and toppy porn girls would do, but I suspect it's not as common as it should be.
I think that's a reasonable position, assuming that the doms/dominas are responsible players and customary safety precautions are employed (like "safe words" and erring on the side of caution if the nature of the scene may impair the sub's ability to communicate effectively).
That being said, if a performer sets clear limits and a director or another performer fails to respect them (either because they don't give a fuck or because they're positive that the other performer "really wants it"), the offending party(ies) should, at the very least, be blackballed from the business.
Sadly, history demonstrates that such sanctions are unlikely to be enforced.
