In gonzo the rules are different because there is no need for scenario and the performer can be completely nude and that doesn't affect the scene but my theory as to why we see partially clothed females during the entire scene is that this is the only cheap way producers have found to hide the performers tattoos. Even when the performer does remove al her clothes. You notice that the producer tries to shoot from angles that show as little of the tattoo(s) as possible.

^I agree that many of todays performers have tattoos but I daresay that most producers would rather they have none or if they have a few than that they be as discreet as possible. In a group scene, with two or more women, close-up shots often make it hard for the viewer to distinguish one woman from the other. But if one of them is wearing pantyhose, or some other distinctive garment, then this makes it very easy for the viewer to know who is who, even during close-up shots. A good example of this is a threesome anal scene with Manuel Ferrara, Angela White, and Kelly Devine in Angela (2014). Kelly Devine in this scene wears a blue corset, which makes it easy for the viewer to know who is who, even during the close up shots. I also think that there is such a thing as having two few clothes in a porn scene, especially at the beginning of the scene. Because it makes the scene look unrealistic. In vast majority of real sex situations, guys and women meet up with each other fully clothed. Their groping and undressing is a part of their sex-experience and foreplay. And this is something that's missing in many porn movies nowadays. A lot of porn movies start with naked women teasing you and the guy. But this is so unrealistic, that for me at least, it doesn't work well. The time for tease and foreplay is when the woman still has some clothing on. Once she is naked, then delaying sex seems like a waste of time to me.

Well generally, I don't like too much clothing during the hardcore act. I especially find distracting and very annoying when any type of clothing is blocking the view of the most interesting female zones. Totally agree that most seems to be going that way. NA scenes are terrible for it lately, in keeping the girls clothed for a fair amount of the action.
