Are the annoying "chat now" pop-up windows originating from IAFD?
Or, is it something my computer has aquired?
Thanks.

We're experimenting for a couple weeks.

Just returned after two-weeks business trip to find IAFD response to be very, very slow. Where IAFD screens used to open in no time (around 0.5 sec) it takes 20 to 30 sec now(!!).
So my voice is strictly AGAINST such changes...

20 to 30 seconds? Is anyone else seeing this behavior? I'm not seeing it. I'm hitting every kind of page from an external network, and I don't see that kind of lag.

Jeff, sorry but the long lags are there all right. I was trying it from two different locations in Russia with two different providers. Both on cable, the upload and download parameters quite good.
And after all, it was IAFD only which has slowed down considerably these days while EuroBabeIndex or PornTeenGirl sites remained as fast as before...
Let me give you a step-by-step example of what's going on when I'm doing my usual routine on IAFD info. The aim is to upgrade my statistics on Russian babes listed on IAFD while also mentioned on EuroBabeIndex and PornTeenGirl.
Suppose we are going to check some info on the girls playing in "Rocco's Nasty Tails 2" starting from scratch, i.e. from IAFD Main Page.
[Click #1] on http://www.iafd.com/ --- AdultFriendFinder (AFF) ad appears in less then 1 sec --- the rest of Main Page appears in 22 sec only...
Typing "Rocco's" in the Search box and... [Click #2]. The long list of films appears in 6 sec. Not bad...
[Click #3] on "Rocco's Nasty Tails 2". The AFF ad pops up in no time but to see the Film Page (with list of actresses, etc.) takes another 20 sec. My targets in the list are Dasha and Julia R both playing in Scene 2.
[Click #4] on Dasha. The AFF ad pops up in no time without fail, but to see Dasha's page takes another 22 sec.
Want to return to the Film Page by clicking the "Back" button. [Click #5] instantly brings the ad (this time of the RedLightDistrict) yet to see the Film Page takes another 22 sec(!!!).
[Click #6] on Julia R delivers her page in about 0.5 sec together with RedLightDistrict ad. What a relief... like in the good old days...
[Click #7] on the "Back" button brings me back to the Film Page in 23 sec only. Yet the ad on top of the screen (this time of Jules Jordan Super Sale) was there in 0.5 sec.
Enough, I guess. The bottom line is that IAFD for me has become 20 times to 30 times more slow than it used to be in the last couple of years. The delays of 20...23 seconds seem to be most typical now when travelling from one screen to another.
I do not believe this problem of IAFD slow response is my personal problem because again, I am experiencing it from two different locations, both with fast Internet connections.
What say?
Best Regards - Tony.

^ The fact that those of us in the USA do not experience these lag times suggests to me that the problem may be somewhere between you and the IAFD server, rather than the server, itself.

It's working fine here (NL) too.
Can you do a traceroute, Tony?

Well, I tried the tracert but it only gives some idea of the quality of the path to IAFD main page. The quality was variable but still good within reasonable limits.
The problem that I do experience is NAVIGATION inside IAFD, and such problem couldn't be detected by tracert or another similar tools.
Let me emphasize that all the ads on top of every screen arrive in no time, i.e. within 0.5 sec after the clicks. And all the delays are after the click when the next ad has popped up.
Looks like IAFD gives me enough time to read the new ads from top to bottom and then again from bottom to the top before I switch to the issues of my particular interest...
It was not like that before, and my understanding is the delays are caused by some additional processing because of the new advertisements. I understand also that the new ads are probably the way to collect some more funds to support IAFD, and I'm not going to debate the need of the ads.
Still hope Jeff could find the way to process the new ads in more time-saving manner...

I just checked, and I'm not experiencing any lags navigating inside IAFD.
Edited to add that maybe there is an issue with Java - I wouldn't see that, since I don't have it enabled. That the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

Thanks for the suggestion, Hardware. Just disabled Oracle Java in my Internet Explorer but it didn't help...
Experiencing same long lags (22-23 sec on each click before the whole screen pops up. Those 22-23 seconds look like magic numbers for current IAFD status.
Might be some specific channel problems between United States and Russia, something like what we have with Rambler mail for the last year or so.
It's real pity to me that IAFD navigation has slowed down so much at our end. These days I'm trying to collect Aliases of Russian girls listed on IAFD while also listed on EBI (EuroBabeIndex) and PTG (PornTeenGirl) sites. The aim is to compile extended Alias Lists (for "Performer AKA" boxes on IAFD) and offer them to IAFD editors. So additional navigation delays on IAFD eat my time considerably...

P.S. BTW I'm not seeing any pop-up windows mentioned by the topic starter. Maybe navigation delays are some consequences of those pop-up windows which require additional processing before the actual texts come to the screen??

IAFD has been the "Library of Congress" for serious smut collectors.
A stellar resource for advanced level porn fans.
Junk pop-up ads are an insult.

The pop ups do look tacky, but IAFD has to make enough money to survive. I'm not seeing the delay that Tony Page is talking about. Most I can get is an occasional 1 second hold from when the banner ad displays and the rest of the page suddenly shows.

Well, it might be ta problem of communication lines between Russia and the West Coast. You must be much closer to IAFD server locations, right?
I'm experiencing same delays of 22-23 seconds most every time I change screens navigating inside IAFD. Yet every once in a while the next screen pops up in no time like it used to be on IAFD a month ago.
Looks like there was some additional processing incorporated into IAFD software when ads have been added...

Hurrah !!!! It's back to normal again !!
Guys, I don't know what you have done to IAFD software within the last 6 hours but it is fast again on my end in Russia as it used to be for the previous 3 years. Thank you very much!!

From a posting on IAFD, it appears they are going to experiment (again) with "pop-under" ads, in an attempt to gain more revenue for the site. While I can understand the need to maintain revenue to keep the site running, why not mimic the business model of ADT to gain revenue? ADT avoids those annoying pop-up adds and still manages to keep this site up and running.
I've acquired an addiction to IAFD, in the "research" for my hobby. It is a lovely hobby, indeed.

I would prefer the silent pop-under ads they are trying to having it become a pay database.

I'm not sure what ADT does that we don't do -- we do banners at the top of each page, and we have a price search engine.

Recenty getting "Live Jasmin" pop-ups.
Very tacky addition to an otherwise classy website.
Revenue? You have dropped price search links to most of the offerings from adultdvdmarketplace.com?

Wikipedia and SUBSIM have methods for making donations. SUBSIM (submarine simulation) solicits donations every so often, via PayPal. Public television solicits donations also. IAFD is like the Public Television channel for the industry. They provide a service to fans, via a good corps of volunteer editors. Using IAFD search tools, I can determine quickly if a favorite actress has performed with a favorite actor. A tip of the hat to the volunteers at IAFD. Here's to another fifteen years! Hope you can resolve the financial problems.

I agree with dogzcatcher. I would prefer the IAFD to remain popup free. It just does not convey the image of a quality site if you have pop-ups. I would be willing to make a small donation. Hardware and bandwidth costs are always falling. Could you elaborate on the server requirements the IAFD needs, (co-lo space, server specs, etc). Maybe a ADT member could suggest a lower cost infrastructure for the IAFD.
