I get the impression that most people do not find the feet arousing at all, but yet foot fetish material continues to be sold and is very marketable. I was wondering if anyone could measure the popularity of foot fetish porn compared to other fetishes like bondage.
A mild foot fetish is more common than you might think. I'd say there is a wide spectrum between the small percentage of guys who'd get off on a poorly lit and recorded amateur scene where a so-so looking girl steps on grapes, etc. in her bare feet, and the foot-phobic. There are lots of people who like pretty feet (and legs, hosiery, and footwear) to varying degrees but also like other physical features and can enjoy scenes without any foot fetish action, and even larger numbers who have nothing against feet even if they don't especially like them. But I'm not sure how marketable it is, though. Brandon Iron complains on this board that he likes making his Ten Little Piggies series but it is not a moneymaker for him compared to his other series. (Of course, Ramsey then berates him for not having already made Ramsey's dream movie.) Kick Ass Pictures still makes Barefoot Confidential, but they do not seem to treat it as their flagship series anymore. Their latest mailing gives the same amount of space to 5 Guy Cream Pie as they give BC, which is half as much space as they give Honey, We Blew Up Your Pussy. I'd say that other studios saw BC's success and started their own foot fetish lines, and now the foot fetish market may be saturated so that the profit margins for all foot fetish series are very tight. I do think it is a nice bonus though when a movie that was not billed on the box cover as a foot fetish movie includes some toe sucking and/or a bit of a footjob, maybe even a cumshot on her feet.
I think Vivid, JKP and other mainstream companies appeal to the normal liking of feet. BTW what do you define as a mild foot fetish. Umm essentially. I mean a mild foot fetish is more of a turn-on than a true fetish. I think people who study human sexuality scientifically distinguish between a fetish for an inanimate object (like shoes, hosiery, or underwear) and partialism (being fixated with a body part other than the genitals.) But they do not consider a fetish or partialism to be a true fetish or partialism unless the individual's entire sexuality is so tied up with the inanimate object or body part that they are unable to become aroused if the object of their fetish is absent. So by mild fetish, I mean that someone is aroused by something when it is there, but they are still attracted to a pretty face and T & A even if whatever they have a mild fetish for is not there. Like I enjoy seeing pretty feet on display in shorts and sandals season, but I can still find a girl attractive when she's wearing pants and athletic shoes, and I can still find a girl attractive if she has a beautiful face and a good upper body but maybe her ankles are a bit thick and her feet and toes are wide and stubby. As to how other genres thrive, I don't claim to be an expert. I can only say that some movies may have different costs. For example, in TEN LITTLE PIGGIES, I hire 10 girls at their rate. Now, you can see from cast lists out there that not every movie has 10 girls. Many just have 5. So, I have doubled the talent costs by choosing to have 10 girls.
There are foot tapes out there that just have 60 minutes with one girl. I thought it was better value to offer more to the consumer.
For other niche genres, I think the talent may not get as much as some of the girls do for regular sex scenes. Just a guess, of course. I don't produce the other stuff so I don't know how much it costs to make.
I would say for a voyuer, appreciation of the feet is non-existent without an attractive woman who has hot face and decent body. Without that the foot fetish means jack.
