The scene/scenario, whatever you want to call it, has changed so dramatically over the last decade that it’s incredible. I think this is due to two influences: 1. The increased use of the internet where you can be ‘anonymous’ and still shop and buy things through e-tailers; 2. A greater acceptance of sex as a part of life with the ‘newer generation’, i.e. you can talk about it, write about it, and yes you can put it graphically in movies.
It used to be that if you went to an ‘adult shop’, it was almost always in a ‘seedy’ part of town and you felt impelled to duck your head and skulk into the shop. Nowadays, they can be found in many local neighborhoods and are just another shop that targets a more ‘selective or specialized’ crowd.
This is certainly true in the area that I live in. The local shop I use for rentals (when I want to look at a new genre before I buy) is on a main street, and is owned and operated by a lady. Roughly 50% of the staff are womyn, are very pleasant to deal with, and are very knowledgeable with everything in the store which includes video, DVD’s, lingerie, and toys. i.e. a complete line of things.
About a month ago I was in the shop waiting in line to rent a couple of DVD’s and the owner of the shop was talking with two ladies about a particular movie. She saw me in the line and she pointed me out and said “He has seen the movie and he can tell you about it!” and the four of us, me and three ladies, ended up talking for about 10 minutes about the particular movie they were interested in. (To answer your question, it was the movie ‘Zazel’ that we discussed.) The owner and I had discussed it previously on a different occasion.
When I finally left the shop, the thought in the back of my mind was this never wudda happened a decade ago . A decade ago: 1. 99% of the clientele were strictly men. 2. You seldom saw couples in the shop 3. you ‘never’ saw a single womyn shopping in the store 4. you very seldom ever saw two womyn shopping in the store/
The landscape is very different today. I’m sure that Beaver was surprised at the reaction he got, (pleasantly surprised I’m sure).
Please excuse me jibstar if I use your thread to post and additional thought/question: I wonder how many womyn out there have bought and own some movies that their boyfriends/hubbies don’t know about because they keep it hidden under lock and key?
I doubt that we’ll get an answer because if any of them do, they wouldn’t be logging onto this forum and reading these things.

Depends on the woman. Half of the women I dated watched porn with me, 1/4 of the remainder didn't care, the other 1/4 had "issues" with porn (degrading to women, sexist, evil, sinful).
Current wife doesn't care one way or another as long as kiddies don't see it, other than that, can play it or turn it off. She is more physical than visual (on the TV).

Hmmmm this obviously varies from girl to girl. There have been some who have been really into it, those who are indifferent and those who think it's the most revolting filth they had come across ( obviously these relationships didn't last). Something similar happened to me as well, but not with porn.
I had to choose between her and my action figures collection.
Judging by my recent post about the Iron Man toy, you can guess who won and who lost...
My girlfriend has a fairly open mind about porn. We don't often watch it together, but she'll suggest it every once in a while and I'll run out to the video store to get a nice-looking couples-friendly movie. She used to like Rocco, but we must have seen some of his harder stuff so she's not as into him anymore. She knows I rent porn more often when I'm by myself, and it doesn't really bug her as long as I don't talk about it too much.
