I thought about this while watching a documentary the other day about an archaeological dig that uncovered what was clearly, judging from the frescoes on the wall, an ancient Roman brothel. Either the owner of the house was rich and what counted as a porn lover of the time, or these pictures were effectively billboards for passers-by in a time without taboos, because there were girls clearly doing it doggie. (Some of the naughty bits in the mosaics were mosaiced out by the editors, which I thought was ironic.)

As the historian described, this brothel had mostly local girls, which explains why they were mostly white. But lo, they'd bring in an exotic woman from Africa. Which showed the customers had good taste, but of course, the historian went on, these exotic girls were slaves. At first, I wondered if this was just presumptive on the historian's part, and the dark-skinned girls were sex workers just like the others. But apparently he'd translated some of the surviving inscriptions which turned out to be price lists for the women, and the "exotic slaves" cost extra.

It hit me then: Porn producers since the '70s but even into today openly stereotype their women of color. Guys, how many Latina performers have we come to love quite recently, whom we discovered on a site devoted to typecasting role-playing women of color, in low-paying work situations where they're more freely demeaned? In POV situations where the dick is clearly white? We're still doing it, carrying on the Roman tradition.

But if you do find yourself loving Black women you've discovered on a site where their Black-ness is exploited, you still can't help loving the women, so don't fault yourself for that. That's how I discovered great women like Nyomi Banxxx. If Nyomi's ass were depicted on a Roman fresco, we'd have already excavated the remains of a thousand men standing in line. I do think it's perfectly fine to have a scene, or a compilation of scenes, with all-Black or all-Latinx or all-Asian performers. I do love women because of their heritages, including mixes. One of my favorite girls from the '00s is Nautica Thorn, whose mixture of Asian and Puerto Rican is resplendent. And I do sincerely believe I'm seeing less stereotyping in modern porn production, maybe because the performers who produce their own material for OF, MF, and the like don't stereotype themselves, so they're setting a new standard.

I think you're doing this right, Float_my_boat. Let the girl turn you on. Don't worry too much about the race labels, they're going away.
