Okay that following has been ‘on my mind’ for a while, Im not sure why but it has. On Friday and Saturday Cytherea made two (2) appearances at two (2) Castle Megastores in Oregon. For the last couple of weeks these appearances have been advertised, and they read “are proud to present Adult Superstar...” Now my question is how is it that every adult film performer (male or female) is a Superstar ?

Now I have not seen any of Cytherea’s work, but this was simply the most recent advertisement with the ‘Superstar’ tease. How is it that if you are a ‘mainstream’ performer you are an __-List star or a Superstar. There seems to be categories for the ‘mainstream’ entertainment industry, but everyone is simply a Superstar in the adult film industry.

Take Clint Howard for example, I don’t even think he would classify himself as a superstar, but a performer of his caliber in the adult film industry is considered a Superstar. Right off the top of my head I can think of several adult film performers that would easily be classified as Superstars, but none of them are ‘fresh off the bus.’ Hell I was talking with my mother about this, the superstar label thing, and she contributed that John Holmes, Ron Jeremy, and the female lead in the Emanuelle(s) would/should be considered superstars.

As a fan of the adult film industry (business side included) I can easily say that there are a number of performers that deserve the Superstar label, but overall are these labels important to the industry?

I look forward to others’ takes and opinions of this.

On a side note (and completely off topic), according to the IMDB I share an exact birthday (day, month, and year) with Renee Pornero. Just a funny little fact I just found out.

Hi,
I hope i don´t get too much beating when i say that (IMHO) the "americans" tend to see almost everything as the "biggest thing ever ...", "you won´t believe your eyes", "superstar", "king of ..." Just look at some of the Ads you see in those Adult magazines and you see what i mean

no offense though

Since I heard my name, I feel like I have to answer this question...

Okay, well actually I don't know why, but americans really tend to make a superstar out of everybody. Even me, and honestly I don't consider myself even to be a porn'star'...look at THIS... very amusing!
So, don't give a fuck about the peoples titles. It has no meaning...

HYPE=SALES=SUCCESS

The American way since way back when.

If you think there's truth in advertising, you're a little nieve.
