My dad was over one day while I was a work.

He seemed to stop by more often while I was out after that.

As a latchkey kid, when I would come home from school, I would sneak into my father's "secret" hiding place where he stashed his porn tapes. After I watched them, I would put them back where I found them before my parents came home from work. In retrospect, even though I thought I was getting away with something at the time, I am now convinced that my father had to know I was watching his movies while he was at work, but that he just chose to never say anything about it. In my family, aside from the obligatory sex speech my father gave me when I was 10 years-old, we never discussed the issue of sex openly in my family. Even though I know my father used to watch porn, I couldn't imagine ever giving him porn as a gift. It would just be too weird and awkward.

Second question, give porn as a gift... well dunno, personally i buy so few porn like i said before(usually prefer to get them free on internet) so well...i dunno but personally i don`t think i would give porn as a gift, i have no dad(well i have a genitor but you know what i mean) , my mom know i watch porn and all(i still live with her so) but she hate porn, my grand father still watch some but i don`t see myself giving him porn tape personally. So i really dunno.

Third Question : I would not allow my children to watch porn at age 10, thats for sure, tought at 13 i would permit he watch softcore movies that play on tv saturday night, i did at 12 hiding it from my mom and step dad of that time, so why starting to punish him and all if i knew it won`t stop him, i would not completely show him some, but if he happen to have a tv in his chamber and try to watch it hiding etc, i won`t say something. Then for the whole porn xxx, i think 16 is an ok age, if i have a son who happen to watch porn on his cpu or manage to get some tapes or dvds, then i would not do something cuz i know he will probably have already do it and anyway at 16 you know sexuality. Thats how i work, personally i consider porn like horror movie, if at 16 your old enought to watch jason cut the head of some teen and impale them etc and know its only a movie, your old enought to know that porn is also mostly fake, actor get pay to fuck and there no love there.

She knows I have a rather large collection of porn, though I can't say she'd want to see any of it. And my dad would probably have a(nother) heart attack if he saw a Joey Silvera title.

My whole family knows I am a fan of porn. I just can't see giving any of them porn as a gift. Though I did give a stack of DVDs to my brother's friend to "help" him out.

And to FreedomFighter, I'm European. While I can admit to being influenced by American culture in some ways, I'm not part of it. And I don't see anything wrong with parents being "friends" with their children, even more so when they're all adults. What realtip said. I even think it's good to be friends with your parents, having an open relationship, not keeping things like sex as sort of taboo.

I have an acquaintance in his thirties, who's gay and his parents have no idea. Maybe he feels he's better off this way than having his parents think of him as being disgusting and perverted? He tells his friends, but not his parents.
