....can anyone help?

...what it is my old PC died so I bought a new one and had the hard drive from the old PC put into the new one as a D: drive....thing is that anything on the old (D:) drive that was not in a shared folder is now invisible, and I get an 'access denied' if I try to get into any such folders (shared folders are just fine)...of course I kept a sizeable porn stash tucked away from prying eyes and now I can't pry into it with my own eyes!

...like I wailed - can anyone out there help at all?

peace & love

I take it you didn't save a backup of the EFS certificate. You have a slight chance of booting off the old drive and getting in that way, if your old box is too different from the new one then this won't work since that would force a reinstall and your old SAM (Security Account Management) DB will be wiped.

Hi,
Only idea i have is to find a "linuxdude" that is able to mount your old hd in his machine and then copy all files via network or other connection to your new machine

I would go this route as well. Next time make an image of your HD and do so every couple of months or whenever you add anything good. I hope you can get your stuff back.
