I don't know the details, but I did see the headline about (for example) Maitland Ward doing a new TV show. I got to wondering, is the porn / mainstream barrier-and accompanying "shame" (an attitude I've always found particularly repugnant) finally going out the window? A lot seems to have changed, even with the snowflakes, I mean millennials (joke!). Maybe the younger generation even driving things, if inadvertently. Sex seems to be genuinely getting more positive. A trend here to stay?

Other than MW, which TV/movie star is doing porn?
MW is an exception, if she did porn during BMW, she would've definitely been kicked off.

Maitland is maybe an exception, but as an older man, I see due Corona Pandemy a change, in porn slowly but constantely after decades. Casey Calvert once said that porn goes more in this direction, the companies are weaked, the Top peformers are in advantage now. But due doing there own stuff like on OF, as a consequence for me it seems harder stuff are getting less and less, like bukkake, Gangbangs. So the well known performer even do not anal no more at least at the moment. Casey is an example. So after 1 year the "vanilla" stuff is in the majority right now as it seems in porn, at least in the US. Maitland Ward is in the porn, but as far as I know, she will do furthermore porn, maybe despite doing mainstream the same time or at the moment too. Casey Calvert on the other hand has in her mind, releasing "Soft" non hardcore versions of her stuff, here on version of "Primary 1". So it is exciting to watch in which direction this whole business will move finally and actually.

I personally think that as with most things as more and more of the old guard goes away, retires and dies off we'll see things change. With streaming becoming a major force in Hollywood those shows aren't held back or have to worry about the old fashioned and outdated rules, regulations and worries that broadcast tv shows were in the past. Now there's more of a need to do niche shows aimed at adults without worrying so much about being family friendly. Plus, in today's world with so much adult images and content so easily available it seems sort of ridiculous that people in general upset about an actress with a porn past. Are people today as squeamish/disgusted by porn as past generations? Is today's generation of sexting, Instagram model watching, Onlyfans supporting, free porn watching, audience still hung up on pornstars crossing over? I don't think so. I think the biggest reason we haven't seen much of this kind of crossover has more to do with acting talent than a porn past.

But speaking on porn and mainstream's barrier "disappearing"...I don't think it ever will when it comes to content. I don't see a need for it really. The best to hope for would be for the stigma to go away so the pressure and shame of doing porn doesn't weigh so much on the performers. And for porn would be a safer place to work and the performers treated better and respected. Otherwise, I don't see the need to have a hardcore scene in a mainstream movie. Nudity is fine but once you put hardcore a mainstream movie it will overshadow everything else in the movie. On the porn side of things...would big budgets and "great" directors actually make porn "better"? For a certain type of porn, absolutely. Where acting is required and the movie/scene is story-driven...yes. But for the type of scenes where two people just show up and have sex...I don't think so. Porn already has some talented directors and other than awards time I don't think for some fans their stuff is really seen as good/great when they're more concerned with how hard the guy can pound the girl.
