| Posted - Oct 8 2026 : 3:11AMNot Dying-Disrupted: The Macroeconomic Storm Reshaping the IndustryI strongly agree with this take. The industry isn't facing one single problem it's facing several problems converging at the same time. The shift from piracy and free content to tube sites, then OnlyFans and an explosion of independent creators, has completely fragmented the consumer dollar. But what makes the current situation different is the broader macroeconomic pressure surrounding the industry: inflation, tighter consumer spending, payment-processing restrictions, regulatory pressure, rising operating costs, AI disruption, and an increasingly divided market. The result is an industry where there may still be demand, but the ecosystem isn't operating as efficiently as it once did. Too many businesses are competing for the same limited pool of consumer spending while costs and barriers keep increasing. That affects studios, platforms, performers and even consumers. I don't think this means the industry is disappearing. It means the old model is no longer functioning properly and the industry is being forced into another major adaptation cycle. Some companies will disappear, some will consolidate, some will find new revenue models, and AI will accelerate that restructuring. The real question isn't whether the industry will survive-it's what the industry will look like after it finishes adapting to all these pressures.

Not only free, but it also trained people to have an almost endless stream, titillation scrolling, of new (new to them) content. What did "Butterfly Effect" have about that: new male performers had to look at a grid of scenes on their phones to get hard, not by the attractive, naked, willing, sensual female performer in front of them. I'd say good, but it's likely the "my STEP daughter and you just turned 18" shit will still be a thing. This law won't improve anything. [Link] |

^ I'm not sure what Juniper means in those above posts. Is she saying that the company in question (which she has effectively identified through her description) is looking to shoot with models who won't be paid but the scene will likely drive traffic to the model's OF, MV, etc. pages and therefore drive revenue there? Or is she saying that there is no upfront payment for the scene but the model will be paid afterwards (which is how I thought things were done anyway)? She doesn't say this, but if the model isn't paid for the scene itself, does she get paid royalties? I know that one criticism of the current business model is that models are paid a one-time fee for the scene but get no royalties. If the model is paid $2000 for a scene and the scene goes on to generate $500,000, then that does seem lopsided. I've read where some models have wanted to see a share of royalties. It seems to me that some models could probably negotiate royalties for some scenes. Two examples would be the first anal scenes for both Lexi Belle and Riley Reid. If any models could have negotiated royalties for specific scenes, those would be it. Any thoughts? I'm not really sure what it is that the company is doing that Juniper is writing about. [Link] |

^From what I understand, Juniper Ren is alleging that a major adult entertainment company, reportedly established in 1974. The strongest match I found is Caballero Home Video, has stopped offering upfront payment for performers' scenes and now expects them to work through unpaid collaborations instead. She says the company previously offered paid scenes but now relies on collaborations, meaning performers may receive content to sell or promote without receiving a separate performance fee. She says she is not claiming that performers completed work and were subsequently denied payment. Rather, she is discussing the alleged refusal to offer compensation before the shoot is booked. She also acknowledges that she did not personally verify the updated business practices.

^ This makes sense. Thanks. I can see a studio trying this, and maybe, just maybe, it would work for some performers. The problem I can see is that if I want to buy the scene, I can subscribe to the site for maybe $30 and get access to a lot of other scenes too, or I can spend $10 or more and just buy that one scene from the performer. As much as I'd like to support some performers, I'd buy the membership as it is far better value.I don't think this is Caballero Home Video though. We're both speculating, but I think it is Hustler. I'm not sure that Caballero even exists these days, but Hustler does. Juniper says that the company in question started in 1974 (Hustler did) with a magazine and has nationwide stores and a website. I don't think Caballero ever had stores and probably not their own website. I'm not even sure that Caballero Home Video has been around for decades. Just a guess though.

^Yeah, it's Hustler. She listed a bunch of other areas they're in besides studio porn. But even Hustler is very irrelevant these days, nobody ever talks about their scenes, nobody knows when they're released etc. [Link] |

That is a legitimate business model as long as the company is 1) not pushing some "prestige*" narrative to get naive performers to shoot and 2) providing the an edited version and raw content to the performer to sell herself.I am pretty sure this is how most/all of the content on a certain site by a certain former girlsway dude is produced, and that is fine. The women shoot it because the result looks like typical girlsway shit production-wise, and they get to sell it without having to hire a camera dude, hire a shoot-house, rent some lights, find and/or hire another girl to work with, etc. * there is no prestige in porn. Not even in "Vixen" content.
It's all just porn. Edited by - Girl Crazy on 10/21/2026 10:18:56 PM [Link] |

The last recommended-ish (by LezLoveVideo) for Hustler Video was The 2016 film Angels In the CenterfoldYou're all right that they've dropped into an abyss from the high of physical media based porn. Still ignoring ...crazy. Edited by - whakamaakuukuu on 10/22/2026 6:46:31 AM [Link] |
